This Prime Day, help support Exceptional Ops while you shop! Amazon Prime Day is this week, Tuesday October 13th and Wednesday October 14th. Did you know your purchase through AmazonSmile can help fund our free programs? That’s right: a portion of it will be donated to ExceptionalOps. If you find yourself shopping on Amazon this week (or throughout the year), can you take a few seconds to help us raise money at no cost to you?... Simply shop at AmazonSmile by using smile.amazon.com and select the Special People of Fayette County as your charity. Amazon will donate 0.5% of your eligible purchases back to ExOps! You can also support ExOps when you use the Amazon app by making sure Amazon Smile is selected as ON after you sign up. It’s that easy!

Tuesday, October 13th 2020 Special Needs Trusts Attorney Ginny Duhon 7 pm via ZOOM ... ExOPS is excited to present the first meeting of the new school year by conducting it via Zoom. Until public health guidelines deem it safe to conduct meetings that do not require social distancing of 6 feet, our membership meetings will be held virtually. Do you wonder how to provide financial security for your loved one with a developmental disability? Did you know that placing funds in a bank account for them might make them ineligible for important funding benefits? Are you confused about the rules and regulations surrounding their ability to hold assets that could secure their future? Do you worry that the lack of planning might render them ineligible for needs-based benefits such as Medicaid, Medicaid waivers or Supplemental Security Income? One solution is to create a Special Needs Trust. There is more than one type of Special Needs Trust. Join us to learn if your loved one needs a Special Needs Trust and which kind of trust best suits his/her circumstances. Ginny Duhon, an attorney here in Fayette County who specializes in Elder and Special Needs Law, will present information vital to the process of planning for your child’s financial security and will answer specific questions you may have about this very complicated subject. This parent-friendly, easy-to-understand session will explain how to establish a trust, as well as discuss when is the right time to consider creating one. This meeting will be important for parents of children with disabilities of all ages. This is also an important meeting for grandparents raising grandchildren with disabilities. Our meeting will NOT be held at our office location. This will be our first meeting held via Zoom.
