***The Annual Floyd Faust Memorial Turkey Shoot*** The 2020 Turkey Shoot begins Wednesday, November 18 and runs through Wednesday, November 25. ***There is no s...hoot on Sunday, November 22.*** This is a great family event. No shooting experience needed. Bring your shotgun or use one of ours just leave your personal ammo at home. We have shells for 12, 16 (may be out of 16), 20 and 410 gauge. $3 per shoot includes shells. Each shoot is made up of 12 shooters. One shooter from each shoot will win a gift card (to buy a turkey if you choose to). We open at 6:30pm-ish and start shooting as soon as we have 12 shooters. As part of our #gophertortoise relocation efforts on sites that are going to be impacted by development, we also relocate any #commensal species found while exc...avating tortoise and armadillo burrows. As examples, this year, we relocated 3 oak toads (Anaxyrus quercicus) and 1 southern toad (Anaxyrus terrestris). These individuals were released in suitable habitat nearby, outside of areas that are going to be disturbed. Fun fact! #Oaktoads are endemic to the southeastern United States and are the smallest toad in North America, only reaching lengths of 0.75-1.30 inches as adults! They also are characterized by this distinct dorso-lateral (along the back, or dorsum) line shown in the picture on the bottom right below. Photos: Oscar Thompson
