What is EXPRESSIONS all about? For those new to our studio or looking for a dance/gymnastics studio for your child let me introduce this family to you. I began dancing at the age of 3yrs old. I joined a performing dance company and started competing by 12yrs old...going on to win numerous 1st place awards. In 1992 I was crowned Miss Dance of Tennessee. At that point I had been teaching for my teacher for a couple of years. At 19yrs old I opened EXPRESSIONS and started fulfil...ling the dream I had since a little girl. I was then certified by written, oral and demonstration testing through Dance Educators of America. I am also USA Gymnastics Safety Certified, AFAA and Fitour certified. I started our performance team about 3 years after opening and the kids began competing. The trophies that line our dance room is from years of hard work at the age of 32 I began competing in Fitness competitions which allowed me to once again use my dance/gymnastics skills on a competitive level. I went on to become the Georgia State Fitness Champion and NPC Team Universe overall champion which allowed me to represent the USA in Spain at the Women’s World Championships. I placed in the top 15 in the world. I have competed in Dallas, West Palm Beach, Sarasota, New York, Arizona, Nevada and guest performed in New Jersey. I was blessed to earn an invitation to compete in the Arnold Classic in Columbus Ohio (Arnold Swarzzaneggar was on stage with us) and to the biggest bodybuilding show on the world the Olympia. Dance has really took me places. But I am most happiest at home in Calhoun with my dance babies. They are always my babies regardless of age. We teach with love, we have fun and we hope to instill not only dance but life skills. My staff for the vast majority of years has always been girls who grew up here at the studio. My mother up until this year (she is happily retired) has ran the office. We welcome all kids, so if someone has labeled your child special needs, autistic, behavior issue....well they are Gods creation and they are welcome here. We are all imperfectly perfect so please don’t think your child can’t participate or do something...kids are amazing and need someone to believe in them. During the shutdown this past year our dance team stayed connected to each other and our love for dance by passing around a yellow tutu and signing our board that stated your can’t stop our dance because it’s inside us. The tutu showed up secretly at different girls houses and then they secretly passed it on. This will be a great member one day to what this past year was.....if a love is inside you no one or nothing can truly take it away from you. I love my girls
