Happy New Year to our members, friends and family! We are looking forward to 2021!
Not feeling particularly cheery this time of year? You’re not alone. Many find that the holidays bring as much stress as they do joy. But there are ways to ease... through the season. Studies show that 62 percent of Americans report elevated stress in the run up to the holidays. And all that stress leads to anxiety, high blood pressure and health problems. But with a little mindfulness amid the chaos and some well-tested strategies, we can all stay on track for a happy, health and fit New Year. Throughout the month of December, we'll be highlighting some tips on handling stress during the holiday season! The best way to beat holiday stress? WORKOUT! Getting at least 20 minutes of activity a day is going to do wonders for your mental and physical health. Not only will it help prevent you from getting sick before the holidays by boosting your immune system, but it can also help you de-stress! Exercise reduces levels of the body's stress hormones, such as adrenaline and cortisol. It also boosts endorphins, which gives you the "runner's high" and feelings of relaxation and optimism that accompany hard our workouts or, at least, the hot shower after your exercise is over. Take a break, press play and we guarantee you will feel much better afterwards. Try out one of our 20-minute Sleigh The Holidays workouts, share it on social and tag us @fitnessondemand247! #SleighTheHolidays #StressTips

By practicing three small steps, you can make a big difference in controlling #COVID19 in our community. Join HCA Healthcare colleagues across the country by practicing the three W’s: Wear a mask, Watch your distance and Wash your hands. #SpreadKnowledge #SaveLives
Wondering when to use a mask? Wear a mask when you are in a public setting, especially when it is difficult to stay 6 feet away from others not living in your ...household. You should even wear a mask in a restaurant or rideshare. However, if everyone in your household is healthy, you do not need to wear a mask at home or in your personal vehicle. An important COVID-19 Message from Dr. Thomas Craft, Health Director for the South Central Health District, and Don Avery, CEO of Fairview Park Hospital:
We are very sad to share the passing of one of our former Zumba instructors, Tim Graham ( Timber). Many of his class members have asked about what Tim has been up to since he left Fairview. His dear friend and coworker Kristy, has given me permission to share her tribute to Tim’s memory. If any of our members would like to share their fond memories of Tim below in the comments, I’m sure his family would love to read them. Kim Gay
Today is #Juneteenth. The Emancipation Proclamation officially went into effect on January 1, 1863. But, #DYK it wasn’t until June 19, 1865 when Union soldiers ...arrived in Galveston, Texas to announce the end of the Civil War that those enslaved in Texas learned of their freedom? Juneteenth, observed annually by generations of Black families, is a day to reflect, rejoice, and educate. Whether you plan to celebrate with friends (socially distanced, of course) or participate in a virtual event, we encourage you to observe this milestone in American history. This day is an opportunity to have #BraveConversations about the current struggle for racial equality and justice in our country. Acknowledging and celebrating Juneteenth is just one step in our journey toward a healthier, more equitable tomorrow.
