Monday Devotion from Minister Charlotte Smith "The LORD is my light and my salvation--whom shall I fear? The LORD is the stronghold of my life--whom shall I dread?" - Psalm 27:1 David had many enemies but his focus was never on them especially in Psalm 27:1. David focuses on God and nothing or no one else. When he faced dark times, David says God is his light and his salvation. Because he knew that with God as his life, he didn't have to fe...ar or dread of anyone. David's aim was for the Lord to bring light to his life. Throughout the passage David tells what his enemies had done to him and he doesn't think about repaying them for their evil deeds but he does confess that the one thing he seeks is to dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of his life. When faced with dark times, are you allowing God to be the LIGHT? Are you even aware that God is your salvation? Do you know that Jesus Christ is the source of abundant life and out of abundant life springs forth purpose and meaning? Whatever you are lacking or missing, Jesus wants to give t to you in overflowing measure. If it's joy - He wants to give it. If it's peace - He wants to give it. If it's strength - He wants to give it. There is nothing that God cannot do and just like David - we must direct our attention to God and to the necessity of faith in Him. There is no need for you to fear or dread anything. Just trust and know that God is your stronghold.
