Another tip for making fitness an actual part of your life: I have talked about this before but it's such an important issue it deserves another round. You must stay Hydrated! The truth is most people are chronically dehydrated ALL the time!... If you are going to be fit, then you have to make staying hydrated a priority. And not just when you are working out. For a healthier workout you should drink about 16 ounces of water BEFORE you begin your workout. But don't to it right before you start. Give your body some time to take in that water and spread it thru your system. When you are actually working out, you want to think about going thru a bottle of water for every 45 minutes of exercise. If that seems like a lot, then come join our Cardio-Kickboxing class and you will see how little that really is. :-) Also for 'better' health, when you get done with your workout replace the fluid you lose during exercise. Weigh yourself right before and after workouts and for every pound lost, drink eight ounces of fluid. Finally, if you have had a hard workout for more than 40 minutes, you want to be SURE to grab your favorite sports drink (one that includes salt and sugars) so that you can quickly replace those electrolytes as well as getting more fluid into your body. One last tip, it's been shown that drinking at least 2 cups of water before a meal can help you loose up to 5 pounds yearly. It may not sound like much but when it comes to weight loss every little bit counts. And for those of you that struggle with the 8 glasses of 8 ounces of water a day...it should really read "8 glasses of 8 ounces of FLUID a day" according to the Mayo Clinic. So Drink Up and STAY HYDRATED! Train hard, Train safe. Before I forget, please remember to tell your friends about our classes. Remember that we offer adult only classes in Tai Chi, Cardio/Fitness Kickboxing, and Martial Arts/Self-Defense. Our school grows the most thru your referrals.

http://abcnews.go.com//caught-on-tape-girl-fights-off-wal/ It's a great story and what a blessing for the family that the girl knew "EXACTLY" what to do in that horrifying situation. My BIGGER question is, what in the WORLD is a 7 year old doing 'just a few aisles' away from her mother. ... GEEZ! Wake up people. Don't wait until this happens to start treating your children like the treasured gift that they are. Would you leave your wallet on the floor 'just a few aisles' away? What about your cell phone? What about your purse? Would you leave you car running in the parking lot while you went into a store? Which of these is more important????
Happy "Year of the Dragon" New Year!!
