Bunn Pest Control 26.04.2021

Good evening Bunn Customers! It is that time of year again when one of the most aggravating and annoying insects will start making its grand emergence from its winter nap. The bug I'm referring to is of course the MOSQUITO! Yes, unfortunately it is that time as the cold weather starts to ebb off, and Spring showers start to roll in, bringing the mosquitos with them. Soon, we'll be gearing up to start offering our mosquito season package which will run through October, to keep... your yard and home as mosquito-free as we can. Until then, here are some quick facts about these pesky, itchy invaders: 1. Only female mosquitoes bite This may surprise you and most people probably assume all mosquitoes bite, but no it is only the females that like to use us as a tasty snack. 2. Mosquitoes are the world’s deadliest animals When someone mentions the term world’s deadliest animal you probably start thinking of sharks, tigers, crocodiles and other fierce creatures. Well, it may shock you to learn that it’s actually mosquitoes. Why? Well, it’s down to the harmful diseases that they are known to spread. Mosquito diseases Mosquitoes are known as ‘vectors for several harmful diseases such as Malaria, Zika and Dengue. It is believed that as a result of this, mosquitoes are responsible for around 1 million deaths per year! 3. Mosquitoes love CO2 To be honest they have a bit of an addiction to it. Carbon dioxide is one of the main ways in which mosquitoes locate their next feast. They use a special organ called a maxillary palp to follow the smell of CO2 released from our breath. 4. There are a lot of mosquitoes A lot! According to the American Mosquito Control Association, there are over 3,000 different species of mosquitoes throughout the world. 5. Mosquitos breed in water Mosquitos breed and lay their eggs in wet, damp areas. So if you have a pool, a pond or any kind of standing water on our around your property, you can bet you'll find mosquitos. If you have any questions regarding mosquitos or our mosquito season package, please feel free to talk with one of our trained technicians or give us a call here in the office. Have a great rest of the week, and be safe! Your Bunn Team
