"After this, Jesus, knowing that all was now finished, said (to fulfill the Scripture), 'I thirst.' A jar full of sour wine stood there, so they put a sponge full of the sour wine on a hyssop branch and held it to his mouth. When Jesus had received the sour wine, he said, 'It is finished,' and he bowed his head and gave up his spirit." - John 19:28-30 ESV Let us remember the sacrifice that Christ made, but also with the hope of what was to come.

For #55in5 this week, we pray for the Bangobango people of the Democratic Republic of the Congo. The Bangobango are likely the descendants of hunters, although they no longer carry out that skill. Today, the 319,000 Bangobango people in the DRC are subsistence farmers who raise animals. While the Bangobango primarily adhere to Islam, they also practice ancestor worship. They try to appease a supreme god, family spirits, and other spirits serving as intermediaries between man ...and gods. Shrines are built to placate their family spirits, and diviners are used against evil spirits, whom they greatly fear. Recently, an orality project has begun among the Bangobango to translate stories from the Bible into their language. Praise the Lord that the Bangobango will soon have recordings of Bible stories in their language. Pray God would use these to spread His Word among the Bangobango. Pray the Bangobango would understand Jesus Christ is the only intermediary between God and man. Pray the Bangobango would no longer work to appease false gods but would find freedom in salvation in Christ.

TAKEAWAY FROM YESTERDAY: As we worshipped on Palm Sunday yesterday we were reminded about the donkey and colt that Jesus asked to be brought to Him to ride into Jerusalem. Remember: if God knew exactly where two donkeys were and their purpose, He knows exactly where you are and what you need.

This week for #55in5, we pray for the Herero of Namibia. The Herero mostly reside within Namibia’s borders, though some reside in Angola and Botswana. A history of European colonial oppression, including genocide, still impacts the Herero people and has kept them resistant to Christianity. They have retained a strong cultural base that keeps them proudly united as a people group. The Holy Fire still spiritually captures most of the Herero in that it connects the living to t...he dead through the ancestors. The Herero are a strong, proud people who have yet to understand how desperate they are for salvation and all that it offers today and throughout eternity. Ask God to humble the hearts and minds of the Herero so that they will be open to hear the good news of Jesus. Pray that God will create in the Herero people a desire to leave the past behind and run towards the future God has prepared for them through Jesus Christ. Ask God to quickly mature the new young adult Herero believers and burden their hearts for their own people to know Jesus.

For #55in5 this week, we pray for the Ingessana of Sudan. The Ingessana people of Sudan number just over 100,000. They are a Muslim people group that has no Bible translation, no "JESUS film, no gospel recordings, and no radio broadcasts that share the gospel message. They live a life of on-going political conflict which forces many of them to flee their areas and live as refugees. Making their living from the land, they depend on cultivating the land, raising livestock, and crafting. Pray the Ingessana people will have the opportunity to hear the gospel message. Pray those who are called to share with the Ingessana people will truly hear God’s voice and respond in obedience. Pray the Ingessana will know and follow Christ, who gives rest.

Please give prayerfully and sacrificially (on top of your titheand not as a replacement). Every little bit helps get us closer to our church goal of $9000. Try to get an extra hour of sleep tonight (at least if you don't have any kids who will get up anyway ) and set your clocks back an hour before going to bed!

For #55in5, we pray for the Wolof of Mauritania. The Wolof are a West African people mostly found in Senegal. However, over 230,000 Wolof live in the Islamic Republic of Mauritania, a country on the northern border of Senegal. It is illegal to share the gospel openly in Mauritania. Evangelism is prohibited by law. The Wolof in Mauritania are considered inferior to the "white Arabs" who live among them. Pray for God to raise up Wolof believers in Senegal who are willing to liv...e among the Wolof in Mauritania in hopes of sharing the gospel despite the law restrictions. Ask that in a land that is a desert, both physically and spiritually, God would allow the Wolof to discover the water of life: Jesus. Pray also that God would allow those who are seeking Him to be bold despite the persecution and possible death they may face upon their acceptance of the gospel. See more

This week for #55in5, we pray for the Rwandese refugees who moved into Tanzania during years of internal conflict in Rwanda, including the mass genocide of 1994, when as many as 1 million people were murdered. Now there are approximately 249,000 Rwandese residing in Tanzania. Their primary language in Kinyarwanda, and the complete Bible is available in their language. Most Rwandese adhere to Roman Catholicism. While there are a few evangelical believers among the Rwandese of ...Tanzania, there is currently no active church planting efforts among them. Pray that displaced Rwandese will find a place of peace in their adopted home of Tanzania. Ask God to help them know they are His no matter where they live. Pray that the evangelical believers will have boldness to share their faith with the many Tanzanians who do not know Christ. Intercede for them to have the courage to be missionaries in the regions to which they have relocated. Also pray that God will give favor to these Rwandese immigrants so that they can live and work legally in Tanzania.

For #55in5 this week, we pray for the Ngongo of DRC. There are approximately 200,000 speakers of the Ngongo language in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. They live in the very fertile lands and forests of central DRC. Like many of the people groups around them, many Ngongo are nominally Roman Catholic, although syncretism with African traditional religion is common. There is no written Scripture in their language, but last year a group of six committed Christians began pu...tting stories from the Bible into their language to be shared orally. These six have recruited and trained 25 others to join in their work! Pray that those who are putting God’s Word into their heart language would remain faithful to the Scriptures. Also pray that they will remember the importance of what they are doing and not become discouraged by setbacks. Pray for those who claim the name of Christ, that they would cling to faith in Him alone for salvation and leave their animistic beliefs and practices behind.

We hope that everyone is healthy and well! We wanted to let people know we will not be able to stream our services tomorrow and will be available in-person only. We also wanted to make everyone aware that a member has had a positive case of COVID-19. We were able to determine those who need to quarantine and have continued our deep cleaning and other COVID-19 procedures, so we feel safe in having services in-person tomorrow. However, we want to be fully transparent so people can decide how comfortable the are about worshipping with us. We pray that all involved continue to be healthy with either no or mild symptoms.

We were so blessed to have our previous music minister Lem LeRoy and violinist Elena join us for a concert for our homecoming. Enjoy the performance of several instrumentals, hymns, and surprises! Thank you also to Mike for preaching his message on the ultimate homecoming. For those who missed it or want to watch again and again, you can! View on YouTube:

This week for #55in5, we pray for the Naath, also called the Nuer. The Naath are cattle herders living in both Ethiopia and South Sudan. The Naath believe in a supernatural being. They also believe in lesser gods, which they call "kuuth," but they know there is only one God (Kuoth). The Naath of Ethiopia are highly unevangelized and unengaged, while their counterpoints from South Sudan have had a lot of evangelical influence. Pray that the Father will open the eyes of the Naath community to see Christ as the source of abundant and eternal life. Pray that God would raise up qualified pastors and teachers who will be well established in the faith and that believers in other countries would have a heart to bring the gospel to their own people in Ethiopia.
