Curriculum theme for this month.....insects! Big hugs, little bugs, long bugs, round bugs. Some people like bugs, some people don't! Children love to learn about bugs! String painting spider webs.

More good news!

Look what the children picked from the garden! We counted 25! Some are small, some are BIG and some are in between! All are green! An adult washed them and sliced the bell peppers. The children saw the seeds that are inside. All children were encouraged to taste the fresh bell peppers. Some ate them all up! A flower was picked too.

Your child is engaging in digital learning. Is your child's device secure?

The most valuable gift that all teachers have is each other. Without collaboration our growth is limited to our own perspectives. Today we decided to hoop our way into the weekend! The positive energy circled around the school all day and the children loved us for it! Together we as educators are FFA strong!

From a friend. On behalf of the educators out here...this next semester (but probably longer) starts a new chapter in public education. There is a huge learning curve that students, teachers, and district administrators will be navigating, yet again, together! As we embark on this journey, we are asking our Facebook friends to refrain from publicly scrutinizing their children’s teachers/schools/district for the way they are teaching, the lessons they’re assigning, or the deci...sions the districts are making. Instead, we ask you stand up for educators if you see this negativity on your timeline. Please offer grace to your child’s teacher and other school personnel. I promise that educating & keeping your children safe is still their #1 priority. They are about to navigate unchartered waters with little idea in what to expect. This is a crisis, not a time to be playing armchair quarterback. They love your kids and will be doing their absolute best! Please copy & paste if you are a teacher ... or support teachers. And fellow educators, YOU’VE GOT THIS! I believe in you! We are all in this together!

Eating fresh veggies from our garden!

Our garden is producing vegetables! We have had plenty of rain and busy pollinators to make our garden grow. The children are curious about the texture of the squash, the little spikes on the cucumbers and the flavor. Chef Clara is washing and prepping for he veggies for the kids to taste.

Our Spotted Ladybugs class participated in a fun science experiment last week called "walking rainbows". After they made observations they documented what they saw. By providing early exposure to academic language with words like experiment, document and observe sets even the youngest children up for success in their school career.

Everything in the garden has grown! Including the weeds. We so enjoy our time in the garden.

Here's some great at-home strategies for your kiddos!

Everything we do here has purpose, has intention. We use Georgia Early Learning and Development Standards to structure our lesson plans and create an intentional classroom community. In this photo you see; -toddlers reading together... We see; -toddlers with emerging social skills -toddlers transitioning from solitary to parallel play -toddlers developing early literacy skills -toddlers engaging in an activity for an extended period of time SED5.1a Begins to relate to and show enjoyment in interactions with other children.

Sometimes, you’re thinking one thing and the teacher is thinking another. (Don’t worry, he got it right after this video, we have really smart kiddos at this school that were really just craving some sweets)

Learning isn’t limited to the classroom. Teaching isn’t limited to the teacher. We all love each one of our kiddos here and do what we can for their success. One of our Little Polywogs took an assisted walk with his teacher to the office this morning and got some help from the front with balance and walking.

Our Brown Bears has a good time doing some flower exploration and making flower windows to document their exploration and investigation.

Our Junior Toddlers class participated in a connect learning segment last week as they helped to make popsicles, completed popsicle art, and then tasted the popsicles they made!

Here it is! OUR BIG NEWS! DIGITAL LEARNING CLASSROOMS! (worth noting that enrollment in this program will reserve your spot for when you choose to come back to in person classes)... We recognize that many families are not comfortable sending their children back to school just yet. And some families are still working from home AND caring for a preschooler. To that we say, we've got you! By enrolling in a digital learning classroom you will be provided with materials weekly. These materials will be for activities including art, science, literacy and more that your student will participate in virtually! Each student will receive a back pack with school supplies and each week you will come by to pick up your new materials! We will host engaging live circle times, literacy activities, science experiments and a variety of additional cognitive activities. By enrolling you will have access to multiple resources for gross motor activities, games, story times and art projects. THE FUN NEVER ENDS, JUST LIKE THE LEARNING NEVER ENDS. Big Blocks are so much fun to use when building towers. We learn colors, counting, patterns, cooperation, and taking turns! We also experience excitement, accomplishment, patience and joy!

We did not get to have a traditional Pre-K 4/5 Graduation but for our friends that were here we were fortunate to be able to Zoom our graduation ceremony to our families to celebrate with us! Pre-K Class of 2020 YOU GRADUATED!

Running into Friday like.... There's nothing like the giggles of young children to make your day, you can see the enjoyment in their faces here!

We love using our outdoor learning areas. Ms. Alexa and Ms. Tamita read books and provided hands on experiences to teach the kids about seeds.

We played in the garden! We used yard sticks to measure proper planting distance and make straight rows. We used card board tubes to make a hole for the seeds. We planted radishes, carrots, lettuce, rainbow chard and mixed salad greens. We found bugs and pollinators. We watered all the plants and seeds with rainwater. We learned so much and had fun learning!

Our summer camp kiddos are WILD about summer as they embark on our zoo themed week at summer camp. They made masks earlier in the week and will attend virtual zoo tours and interactions later this week.

As part of our measure to socially distance our children and keep germs at bay we have provided each child with their individual set of work materials instead of the traditional method of sharing crayons/markers/scissors they have bags where they keep their assigned items.

The best time to plant a garden is Spring.... Sadly, we were closed. Now, is our time to plant our vegetables. The herb garden is overgrown but the bees and bugs like it that way. The Pollinator Garden needs a few additional flowers. We planted tomatoes, cucumbers, bell peppers and squash. Next we will plant seeds of mixed lettuce, rainbow chard, kaleidoscope carrots, snow peas and radishes.

We have enjoyed some extra time outside!
