We are super excited of the news that we will receive a $500 donation from the East Atlanta Strut! THANK YOU to the Strut committee and the Metropolitan Ave residents who chose our organization! "This year's East Atlanta Strut looked quite different as we strutted in place, on our neighborhood streets, and let neighbors decide how they wanted to participate. We awarded a trophy for four of the best street celebrations and we let the winning streets donate some of our Strut earnings to a previous grant award organization. Metropolitan Avenue chose Friends of East Atlanta Library! You should be receiving a check for $500 from the East Atlanta Strut in the coming week. Thank you and your organization for all the hard work you do to make our community a great place to live." East Atlanta Neighborhood Group

Celebrate East Atlanta’s art, culture and quirkiness in a safer way, East Atlanta Strut In Place, with two ways to play: socially distanced at a Village business or in your own front yard, where you make the Strut, and the Strut comes to you.Think Small Business Saturday meets Porchfest, with a twist. Get all the details at www.EastAtlantaStrut.com, but here’s the short version: Instead of closing roads and inviting 10,000 people to our little neighborhood, the Strut will facilitate activities throughout the business and residential districts. Letter from the Fulton County Library System E-newsletter on 8/3/2020: A Message from the Director Gayle Holloman: Well, we are still moving forward. Thank you for embracing curbside service as we continue to brave the new world of COVID-19. Your usage of online resources has increased tremendously. Special thanks to all of you who participated in the recent virtual resources usage survey. ... You, your children and teens participated in online programs and registered for the 2020 Summer Reading Program. Library staff worked tirelessly to find new things to offer and to make materials available as fast as possible. Library employees are working hard to align resources to meet your fall and winter reading and educational needs. Please know that we are all investigating innovative ways to navigate students' needs, whether with online learning or in-person learning. Finally, stay tuned for new information about services, programs and materials as it becomes available. The summer may be waning, but adventure awaits within the pages of your favorite book; or, on your favorite device. Take the time, slow down, grab some sweet tea (and/or lemonade) and read.
