Ribbon Cutting for a new section of Filmore Thomas Park.Thursday, Oct.15th. Now, in 2020, the second phase of the Park - including additional trails, multipurp...ose field, another pad for bands, and parking access from Hollingsworth Road - is opening to the public. Macon-Bibb County and neighborhood leaders will celebrate the completion of Phase II of Filmore Thomas Park (3793 Log Cabin Road) with a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony will be held on Wednesday, October 15, at 9:30 a.m., and it will be broadcast live on the Macon-Bibb County Facebook page. Due to COVID-19, only invited guests and the media will be allowed to attend.

The Friends of Filmore Thomas Park is sadden by the senseless vandalism that has taken place in the park over the last month. As a result of this the Splashpad has been damaged and was the main attraction for the kids besides the playground. If only the person or persons would have thought about their actions. It is a sad sight to see little faces get out the car and run over to the Splashpad expecting to get wet and nothing happens. We have to do better as a community...t...his is everybody's park and we have to protect it. If anyone has any information about who did this please contact Macon Crimestoppers. On June 28, Macon-Bibb County approved next year’s budget, and it only includes 30 days of funding for the Recreation Department, the Parks & Beautification Dep...artment, and Historic Bowden Golf Course. This will mean the eventual closure of our recreation and community centers and cancellation of our programs and events. Summer camps, programs, activities, and facility rentals in July will continue as scheduled. Our department remains committed to providing your children with great summer activities that promote health and wellness, and we will do so as long as we can. If you have questions about programs, events, and facility rentals beyond August 1, 2018, please contact the Recreation Office at 478-621-6280. If you have questions or concerns about funding for the Recreation Department, contact the Clerk of Commission’s Office at 478-751-7260.
