Fulton County Sheriff’s Office mourns the loss of two outstanding deputies Two Fulton County Sheriff’s deputies were killed in traffic accident near Augusta, Ge...orgia this morning. The Georgia State Patrol is investigating the accident. The two deputies were on duty in a patrol car on Interstate 20 in Columbia County near Grovetown, Georgia. The fatal accident claimed the lives of Deputy Anthony White, a seven year veteran who joined the agency in December 2012 and Deputy Kenny Ingram who would have marked his 15-years of service in October. Both were assigned to the Law Enforcement Division of the Sheriff’s Office. No one else was in the vehicle. Chaplains who volunteer with the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office are offering grief counseling to the deputies’ family members and colleagues. Sheriff Ted Jackson said, These men had a profound sense of duty throughout their distinguished careers with this agency and for us and this county, the loss of these deputies is devastating. The deputies were on their way to pick up an inmate to transfer to the Fulton County Jail. No additional details are available at this time.

We will never forget those who ran into danger to save others. So many sacrifices were made that day. We remember loved ones lost, families changed forever, and brave colleagues who sustained injuries years and years to follow yet they continued to serve with pride. On this 19th anniversary of the terrorist attacks, we also thank Fulton County citizens for allowing us to serve you. It is an honor. #Neverforget #September11 #911Remembered Fulton County Government FGTV - Fulton Government Television

Fulton County Jail Uses New Tech to Improve Body Searches With Reduced Infringement Upon Privacy On Monday, the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office began utilizing a whole body scanner that employs new technology to secure the Fulton County Jail. Similar to the technology in use by airports across the country, this full body scanner in the booking area of the Fulton County Jail will allow staff to detect any concealed contraband hidden on the persons of arrestees. This non-invas...ive scan by trained technicians will grant arrestees more privacy while enhancing security at the facility. The subject faces away from the X-Ray beam and the process takes 4 seconds which is an upgrade from most devices. The full body scanner will allow for greater social distancing without a risk to security. Specially trained staff will be able to discretely view scans to determine whether a subject is attempting to introduce contraband into the facility. From Lieutenant Derrick Paige: Since operation began Monday, a total of 14 inmates were scanned and no contraband was locatedAs of right now, the body scanner has been of great use. The imagery is extremely great. No issues identified at this time. The machine was installed in May of this year. The Tek84 Intercept’s purpose is to detect objects inserted in the body to smuggle contraband. It is in use by jails, Customs, and other agencies. According to the manufacturer, the Intercept’s scanning beam passes through the person, straight on, the shortest distance through the body. In comparison, previous generation products scan at an angle, requiring the beam to pass through about five inches of additional body tissue (see Diagram). This has a critical effect on image quality and radiation dose. This advantage allows the Intercept to provide better quality images with lower doses than older technology.

We’re giving a special shoutout to Sgt. T. Lowery who recently coordinated the zero-cost makeover of the motor pool interiors. The sergeant learned that a fede...ral agency was donating gently used, surplus furniture to law enforcement agencies. She jumped on the opportunity to upgrade the front office, break room, offices, and even created a conference room. Way to go, Sgt. Lowery! To staff: to book this conference room, please contact Sgt. Lowery. Ha ha! See more
