We received a call today for some bees that were in a tree that had been cut down. We were able to relocate the bees and get them in a regular beehive.

See these here and there in the fall. This is a Queen Yellow Jacket. You can always tell by the reddish/orange color and of course the size (she’s 2-3 times bigger than a yellow jacket). A queen like this will find a place to hibernate through the winter then emerge out in the spring to start a new nest.

It is that time of the year where we remove lots of yellow jackets from inside homes. We removed this colony yesterday there had to have been 50 or more queens getting ready to go out and hibernate for the winter.
