Frank Gaddy, Jr., attended the Annual Meeting and Summer Convention for the Surveying and Mapping Society of Georgia held this year in Charleston, SC. The event, which was held July 18-20, 2013, was a joint meeting with the South Carolina Society of Professional Land Surveyors (SCSPLS). On Saturday, July 20th, 2013, Mr. Gaddy accepted the office of President of the Surveying and Mapping Society of Georgia. He becomes the 58th President of SAMSOG and will serve a two-year term... in office. He previously served as one of the state directors for the organization. Mr. Gaddy has and will continue to serve as Secretary/Treasurer of SAMPAC, the political action committee representing surveyors interest on a legislative level. The Surveying and Mapping Society of Georgia (SAMSOG), is the state association for licensed surveyors. SAMSOG was formed on March 22, 1947, at an informal meeting called by C. E. Layton for surveyors to gather at Georgia Tech to discuss forming a state surveyors' organization. June 14, 1947, was selected as the date for a formal conference and thirty-three surveyors joined together and formally organized the Georgia Association of Registered Land Surveyors (GARLS). C. E. Layton of Thomasville was elected as the organization's first president.

Frank Gaddy, President of Gaddy Surveying & Design, Inc, attended a luncheon for Georgia Secretary of State Brian Kemp which was held in Atlanta, GA in late January. The key note speaker at the luncheon was Senator Fred Thompson (pictured with Mr. Gaddy). During this speech, Senator Thompson provided his unique insight and his personal thoughts on various subjects including: the current state of our country, how the country has changed during the last few years, and the upcom...ing political election. Mr. Gaddy is actively involved in issues that involve surveyors in the state of Georgia. As President of the Atlanta Chapter of SAMSOG and secretary/treasurer of SAMPAC, Mr. Gaddy is one of several surveyors in the state who has met with Secretary of State Brian Kemp as well as Speaker of the House David Ralston. During these meetings, issues and upcoming bills that effect surveyors have been the subject of discussion.

Gaddy Surveying & Design recently started work on the new WalMart #3188 in Stone Mountain, GA. GSD will be working for J.A. Fielden General Contractor out of Tennessee.
