On April 15th, over 140 students and staff members from Sardis Enrichment School visited the quarry. During the visit, students listened to a geology lesson noting the specifics of the quarry operation at Gainesville, viewed an educational video on the importance of minerals, observed and learned about the operation of the pit and plant and gathered a variety of rocks to take home. As a remembrance of their visit, each student received a Hanson gift bag containing a hard hat, educational coloring book, notepad, sunglasses, ruler, pencil, eraser and stress rock.

On October 3rd, Hanson hosted its annual Family Safety Day and had over 100 employees and family members in attendance. A variety of educational activities took place on the topic of safety highlighted by a demonstration on home safety by a 28 year veteran of Emergency Services and Homeland Security called Hold My Matches and Watch This. There were also multiple fun activities during the day as attendees participated in a fishing tournament, cornhole tournament and horseshoe tournament. Even though it drizzled throughout the day, it didn’t dampen the enthusiasm of the participants.

Hanson has partnered with The Redbud Project, which is a community organization with the commitment to preserve the habitat of native species, trees, shrubs and wildflowers in Hall County. One of their main projects is the clean-up and revitalization of the Linwood Nature Preserve, which is a 30 acre site owned by the City of Gainesville located in the heart of the community near Lake Lanier.
