When instruction stops, growth stagnates. Run as far and as fast as you can from any professional who says they don't take lessons. Constructive criticism and correction only makes us better if we seek the tools and commit ourselves to implementing a positive change. Had a great workout this morning on Brooks, our Hollywood Dun It gelding. He and I really needed the refresher as we've fallen into bad (lazy/ sloppy) habits. We spent over an hour focused solely on body mechani...cs and cues with a kind (and thankfully very patient) teacher. Glad to be learning so much from my friend Ken. No matter the discipline, every horse can benefit from a reining foundation. Like football players practicing yoga, core strength and deliberate focused muscle control makes a massive impact on any athlete. Full disclosure: Brooks and I share a body type and are in no way athletes-- but we'd like to be! @kencroweperformancehorses

Please take a moment to stop, read, and share. Located near Athens, Georgia. This is Buddy, and he needs a good home. Hes only about 10 to 12 weeks old and was brought to us after being dumped at a common area for abandoned pets. Can you believe that??? 10 weeks old and left to fend for himself alone in an area filled with feral dogs. None the worse for wear, he is energetic and happy and full of love. He has been immunized and is learning crate training. He adores his crate ...and is almost completely house broken. He never runs away from the house and let's himself in and out to potty. He is super enthusiastic about learning new things. We have worked on "sit" and he now proudly poses if he thinks there MIGHT be a treat involved. When you reach down to pet him, he sinks to the ground on his back, a puddle of mush ready for all the love and attention you can show him. He is so friendly and protective of people. My barn helper used to be chased by my vicious rooster, but not with Buddy around!! He follows her while she does her chores and chases the old meanass away! Although he thinks he's mighty, he is going to remain small, under 30 lbs. We have no idea what breed(s) he is but there is no pit; maybe jack russell terrier? He is intimidated by larger dogs and unfortunately picks on dogs his size, so he isn't fitting in well here with our older pack. He needs another dog who likes to play rough! This little creature has so much energy and would be best in a home with older kids or adults. Probably not the dog for a young child or grandma with his age and energy level. He is quiet unless he's sounding the alarm that someone is home. He sleeps through the night. He is good with cats and doesn't chase the chickens or ducks in my yard (other than to shoo the rooster). I really can't say anything bad about him; he truly is a special pupper!! Can you or someone you know make room for Buddy? Big thank you to Mahala for modeling Buddy and holding the wiggly worm long enough to get some pics! Contact us immediately if you would like to adopt Buddy.

TWO HORSES IN NEED OF HOME: LOW LOW LOW COST (maybe free to right situation?) Recently we visited a farm where two horses were boarded and the owner asked us to step in and see if we could help find them new homes instead of sending to auction where they would most likely be purchased for slaughter. Both have a knee injury that makes them unsuitable for heavy riding. 17/18 year old palomino mare. Her right knee is swollen and she has a slight limp. Ive actually known this ma...re personally for 8 years and she has been ridden everywhere and by tons of kids. She may be suitable for light children riding at low levels (walk/trot) on a bute/injection/previcox program. 3 year old bay tobiano filly. Swollen knee. Definite limp. May be able do in-hand work or pasture ornament/pet. Both are very friendly and easy to handle. Please text 706///207/9361 for owners contact info!

The silver-est of silver linings: A corona virus induced opportunity. Please consider donating some of your down time to an animal in need! Please share if you cannot help in person. Located near Athens, Georgia. During this time of crisis, when schools and entertainment venues are closed and the usual volunteering opportunities become slim due to mandated social distancing, Garnett Grove is actively seeking willing participants to build a connection with one of our 15 feed ...trial horses. (NOTE: feed trial horses are animals surrendered to Garnett Grove for various reasons and are used in feed trials and later adopted once the trial is over and they have been physically rehabilitated). These animals are calm, gentle, and safe to interact with, and many have unfortunately been neglected by human hands. Some come to us thin, with thick mats in their manes and tails. This time of year, when the shedding begins, they delight in having a dedicated person to soothe their itchies with fingernails or curry comb. Or share a treat. Or have a bath. Or simply stand quietly by them and allow them to hand-graze in the thick green grass outside of their paddock. The secret to our success is kindness, and these animals need some of yours. YOU DO NOT NEED HORSE EXPERIENCE, most of these horses are older, kind, patient, and gentle. BRING YOUR KIDS, as children can always benefit from less screen time and character build with acts of altruism. YOU DO NOT HAVE TO COMMIT TO A WHOLE DAY! 20 minutes per horse is all it takes. Do you have 20, 40, or 60 minutes to donate? One time only, or monthly, or weekly, or daily, it is completely up to you! THERE IS NO FINANCIAL REQUIREMENT. We provide all tools, training, and equipment (including treats!). Your hands and gentle attention are ALL we seek to distribute. THERE ARE NO STALLS TO MUCK! There are no stalls or barn chores, just the best parts of horse interaction available here. ALL ACTIVITIES ARE SOCIALLY DISTANT. You will not be asked to get within 10 feet of another person. Your tools will be sanitized. You will be outdoors in nature, experiencing first hand the bond possible with our equine friends. Please message us, or call/text 706-248-1982 if you are interested in donating some of your quarantine time to helping. We cannot do what we do without the valuable input of volunteers. Come love on some ponies with us. Thank you.
