Georgia College LGBTQ + Programs 14.01.2021

Every year numerous LGBTQ+ students delay or abandon their higher educational goals because they don't have family financial resources or emotional support due to their sexual orientation or gender identity. These scholars often face blatant and violent discrimination because they simply want to be themselves. The Georgia College LGBTQ+ Alumni Council is working to ease some of the financial challenges these students face through the GCSU LGBTQ+ Alumni Council Scholarship. ... The Council is seeking your support to help fund this critical scholarship program, which will help lessen the financial pressure of higher education so that these bright students can focus on the important work of academic achievement. Every year, a group of folks from GC attend Creating Change, an annual LGBTQ+ activism conference. This year’s conference is virtual, which means we're able to expand the number of students we "bring" with us! Creating Change this year is January 28-31, with the majority of the conference sessions being on the 30th and 31st (Saturday and Sunday). Please visit https://bit.ly/GCCC2021 to learn more about the event and expectations, and to sign up to join us! (Note: registration costs will be covered)

November 20th marks Trans Day of Remembrance, an annual day where we honor the lives lost because of anti-transgender violence, and recommit to working to end all forms of discrimination that trans and gender non-conforming people experience on a daily basis.
