Georgia Agriculture Commodity Commission for Equine 10.06.2021

As I think about being the recipient of the Georgia Equine Commodity Commission's Golden Saddle Award - I am beyond humbled and honored! I know that there were ...hundreds of other people who are probably far more qualified for this award. When I think about all of the past recipients - all I can think of is WOW! Past recipients include; Pat Harris (Secretary to Tom McCall), former Commissioner of Agriculture Tommy Irvin, Governor Brian Kemp (awarded while he was Secretary of State), Jack Kingston (former Congressman), Dr. Carter Black, Ann Jones, Iron Horse, Rick Treptow (cameraman for GFBF), Meghan Boenig (head coach for the UGA Equestrian Team) and Nathan Deal (former Governor of Georgia). Thank you GEC - I love my plaque but what I cherish more are the friendships and relationships! Thank you again for what you do to recognize the young equestrians in Georgia and thank you for your dedication to the Georgia Equine Industry! Thank you GEC Chairman Ron Smith, Commissioner of Agriculture Gary Black and Ann Jones GEC Advisory Member for your very kind words! Thank you to everyone who helped them pull this off without my knowledge! You guys got me for sure!!! See more

Governor Kemp names 7 riders from Iron Horse Therapy as "Top Equestrian Athletes in the State of Georgia" during Youth Equestrian Day at the Capital. The group... was also recognized during the Legislative session. 2020 marks the 5th year riders from the Iron Horse Therapy therapeutic riding program have received this award.

As Ann said below, GA Championship Youth Day would not happen without a small village of people. And while Ann took the time to thank many involved, a BIG thank you goes to Ann as well. Ann takes a group to the well in the Senate for an introduction and picture each year. She communicates and helps organize a visit by the Governor (which is a very difficult task with a busy governor!) and the House and Senate members. She basically gives a mini civics lesson through her connections and actions and she and ALL that she does (I know I didn’t come close to covering it all...) is greatly appreciated!!

Maren was honored at the Capitol today! She received her certificate from the Georgia Equine Commodity Commission and Governor Kemp spoke and took a photo with ...the group for Georgia Equine Youth Day. We heard about this program for state and national level champions from dressage judge Robin Tardy Ginn who was also there today. It was a great honor and we had so much fun. The invitations for Youth Day have gone out! If you haven’t already received yours, it is in the mail and should be arriving soon! Remember, the riders being recognized on Youth Day had to QUALIFY to be recognized AND send their results in. This is an invitation required event!
