Georgia Legion Oratorical 11.02.2021

The Americanism Oratorical Conference usually held in person in Indianapolis is going to be a virtual event this year. It will be held on Saturday Sept, 26, 2020. I think it will begin around 11:00 AM and end at 5:00 or shortly afterwards. It will be presented using the Microsoft Teams Meeting format. The discussion should be educational, informative and inspiring. Everyone wants the contests to be in person, but, I suspect the topics will cover the possibiity and viability of virtual contests to include speakers, judging, tabulating and more!!! Please make your plans to attend.

Great News for the 2020 Oratorical Champion Brady Parham! He will get the initial 2K scholarship Read below: From: "Megnin, William A. To:... Cc: "Shriver, Kimberley S." Sent: Tue, Apr 21, 2020 at 11:47 AM Subject: Department Oratorical Winners Good Morning, Cancellation of the 2020 National Oratorical Contest in Indianapolis this spring precludes awarding scholarships in accordance with Resolution No. 2 of the National Executive Committee, October 2019. This year, however, through the generosity of an American Legion Child Welfare Foundation grant, a $2,000 scholarship is made possible for each department oratorical finalist whose department reported them as their winner prior to the 31 March, 2020 deadline. Each youth will be receiving a letter of scholarship award and instructions for claiming their scholarship funds. This message will also be shared with your department adjutant. Respectfully, Bill Megnin Youth Program Manager Oratorical and Junior Shooting Sports The American Legion National Headquarters 700 North Pennsylvania Street Indianapolis, IN 46204 [email protected]
