"I don't know who needs to hear this but the 'I never let my disability/pain/illness stop me' is an ableist and harmful narrative. Sometimes chronic issues are debilitating and they do stop you. And you shouldn't be made to feel guilty about it. Period."

GAO mourns the loss of TASH cofounder Lou Brown. Lou called for the termination of institutions, segregated education, group homes, sheltered workshops, and other manifestations of segregation when such ideas were considered radical or extreme. In 1975, Lou Brown, Norris Haring, and Wayne Sailor came together to create an entity that embodies equity, opportunity, and inclusion for ALL people with disabilities. Along with our friends at TASH, we are grateful for Lou’s vision and we honor his legacy by continuing to fight for equity, opportunity, and inclusion.

The Atlanta Community Food Bank has seen a 300% increase in inquiries from people seeking food assistance since the beginning of the pandemic.#PracticeKindness ID: Starting to see a lot of posts about people panhandling or using SNAP cards while dressed in decent/nice clothes. You have zero idea where the stranger at the grocery store got their name brand clothes, and they don't owe it to you to be dressed in rags so you know their worthy of getting some help to eat.
