Congratulations to four Georgia Connections Academy students whose artwork was selected to be showcased at the Capitol Art Exhibit! The Capitol Art Exhibit is an exhibition put on in conjunction with Youth Art Month in Georgia. Typically, the work is displayed in person at the state capitol, but this year the event was held virtually. Ms. Bradford and Ms. Aracich, members of the Georgia Art Education Association, reviewed student work from this year to make selections on w...hich students would represent Georgia Connections Academy. Ms. Bradford submitted the works by Austin and Roxana. Austin is in 9th grade and in Art History, and Roxana is in 11th grade and in Digital Photography I and AP Art History. Their submissions are focused on these classes. Ms. Aracich submitted the works by Zoe and Erika. Zoe is in 12th grade and Erika is in 10th and they are both in Digital Photography II. Has your family opted to participate in state testing this year? If so, we want you to know that our staff are getting valuable training to help keep students safe. A group of our staff reunited for training before the EOG and EOC testing window. Several school leaders provided an in-depth review of protocols around sanitization for each testing room and all equipment used as well as training for staff who will be proctoring and managing sign-in/sign-out stations. Mr. Hale has been working tirelessly to put in place a Travel Club at Georgia Connections Academy. He was chosen as the employee of the month for his efforts to close opportunity gaps and provide travel experiences for students that are often marginalized. He is very dedicated and is doing all he can to ensure all children see the world and experience education outside of a book or a classroom. Our Lower School has launched a club that focuses on spreading kindness to anyone/anything that may be in need! Their most recent task encouraged students to paint and write positive messages on rocks and give them to people or hide them in different places to spread kindness.
