I am getting the first of my two COVID vaccines. Receiving it was easy, but procuring it was anything but. It took many phone calls and emails and filling out f...orms. Thank you to Cameron and the staff at Due West Pharmacy. I hope that everyone in the world gets access to this life saving medicine. Made by Ugur Sahin and Ozlem Tureci, both immigrants, this vaccine speaks for the world. That we can come up with weapons to destroy our mutual enemies and not each other. See more

To all those who served and the families that had to say goodbye not knowing when, or if, they would ever see their loved ones again. Thank you.

Happy 4th of July! It's always a good time for a hot dog. (Just remember to protect your eyes from fireworks and smoking grills)

You may not be able to see it right now, but I am smiling because you are here. And one day, we will both look back on these days and laugh. Happy Fathers Day.

It was a great blessing for all of us to be back in the operating room this week after being out for 6 weeks. This was the longest gap in my career, and it was wonderful to be back with our excellent staff at the surgery center who never fail to provide flawless service. As we wind down National Nurses Month, I want to say how honored I feel to be in the company, both in our office and in the operating room, of such excellent and conscientious technicians, nurses, and nursing... assistants. On my mission trips, we don't always have them, and they make all the difference in the world. They make a lot of sacrifices and take a lot of personal health risk because that is the people that they are. And, let's not forget the maintenance workers, receptionists, schedulers, and administrators too. These people, working for the health of others, throughout the country and throughout the world, are heroes. Happy National Nurses and Technicians month! See more

We are reminded of the true importance of Mothers in times of crisis. A soothing touch, a healing balm, a cool cloth, or a word of encouragement, they were applied with the softest touch and a gentle kiss. Somehow, regardless of the situation, Moms have the ability to give us the confidence that no matter the obstacle, we can succeed. For that and so much more... Happy Mothers day!

Dear Patients, As the situation continues to evolve regarding the coronavirus pandemic, the Georgia Eye Specialists in accordance with recommendations from the American Academy of Ophthalmology have determined that we need to extend our commitment to social distancing for the health and safety of our patients and staff. We believe we each play a crucial role in mitigating the risk of the coronavirus infection. It is important to know when we look back at our actions and d...ecisions, that we made the hard decisions to put our people and our communities first. In the end, it may be impossible to know if we overreacted, but it will be very apparent if we did too little. So for the time being, we will only be seeing patients with urgent or time sensitive medical needs. We will be temporarily discontinuing or limiting routine care from now until at least April 5. We hope we will be able to resume our normal care by then and will continue to follow the advice of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and local, state, and national government officials. Temporarily discontinued services include: Eyeglass exams- except in emergent or urgent situations Contact lens exams -except in emergent or urgent situations Medical follow ups- except in emergent or urgent situations Surgery consultations - except in emergent or urgent situations Special testing We will also be reducing our optical and contact lens center hours to reduce the number of patients in our offices and focus on urgent patient care. It is important that we do everything we can to reduce the risk of spreading the coronavirus and ensuring a healthy and safe environment. We promise to continue to communicate with you as we remove these clinic restrictions so that we can resume our normal, full patient services. We appreciate you and your patience during this time. From all of us at Georgia Eye Specialists, we hope you stay safe and healthy. We will get through this challenging time by each doing our part for the greater good. Stay safe, Hersh Chopra, M.D. Georgia Eye Specialists

If you or a loved one has #glaucoma, there is lots of hope for you! We are at the American Glaucoma Society Meeting in Washington D.C, More and more, #glaucoma procedures can be done at the same time as #cataract surgery treating two diseases at once. There is a large menu of procedures from which to choose from that can be honed to the particular patient's needs. But the big news here is #MIGS (minimally invasive glaucoma surgery). There is a lot of buzz of the various surgical procedures that can ease the burden of using so many drops and help preserve sight. What a great conference, a beautiful city with great museums and extremely cold weather! - Dr. Hersh Chopra
