What does EMS stand for again?

Georgia Institute of EMS 18.04.2021

Musings from a day off from work: The COVID pandemic should bring needed change to EMS: 1. EMS providers are a critical part of the health care system and not s...imply first responders. 2. EMS providers are underappreciated, underpaid, and overworked. 3. EMS providers are not immune from the stresses of the job as evidenced by a spike in depression, PTSD, divorce, and suicide. 4. Governmental entities should either fund EMS properly or don’t do it. 5. Not all patients who call 911 need to be transported to the hospital. Patients can been safely diverted or referred to appropriate facilities by EMS. 6. Failure to attain ROSC in the field is death. Transport to the hospital is unnecessary. 7. Blunt trauma cardiac arrest patients are dead. Transport to the hospital is unnecessary. 8. Paramedics must be VERY GOOD at airway management and ventilation. 9. EMS personnel can diagnose. Call it an impression, problem, field diagnosis or whatever you wantit’s still a diagnosis. 10. Paramedics make great in-hospital providers and an asset to both nursing and medicine. 11. EMS will rely on science to guide it’s futurenot dogma, faith, tradition, the unchallenged word of EMS authorities, or Facebook references See more

Everyone at Georgia Institute of EMS would like to wish you all a safe and happy Holiday Season!! Each year we like to have a holiday party to thank all of our employees for such great work, but unfortunately we were unable to do so this year. This year has been difficult to say the least, and we understand that not being able to see your family and friends can be hard. It has now been almost eight years since we have opened our doors to help the communities around us, and we are still strong! GAIEMS is still here and we continue to do our best to help our students and communities during this difficult time. We all look to a better year with better health and more opportunities to be with our loved ones.
