LOWNDES COUNTY IS HIRING! Fire Prevention Inspector Work involves conducting inspections in accordance with codes; lists violations and identifies corrective actions necessary to become compliant as well as any follow-up inspections to ensure the corrective actions have been taken. Collection, transcription and writing detailed reports of fire inspections performed and fire code violations observed as well as notating any recommended corrective actions. Investigates public c...oncerns and complains as well as developing and coordinating fire prevention inspections and programs with schools and home daycares. Qualifications Possession of, or ability to readily obtain, a valid driver’s license for the type of vehicle or equipment operated. Level of competency associated with completion of specialized training in field of work in addition to basic skills typically associated with a high school education. Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position, usually associated with completion of an apprenticeship/internship or having had a similar position for one to two years. Possession of or the ability to readily obtain the appropriate state certification for the type of inspection conducted. The Georgia Fire Academy is hosting the NFA course Fire Investigations: First Responders February 22-23, 2021. This two-day course covers a basic overview of a fire investigation for the first responder. Students will participate in a live lecture that will review the basics of fire chemistry and develop an understanding of the role of the first responder in relation to fire suppression and fire investigation.... The target audience for this course are fire and emergency services personnel who respond to fires or might conduct preliminary investigations into the origin and cause of fires.
