A study published yesterday in JAMA Dermatology suggests that even though most dermatology residency programs acknowledge the importance of sexual and gender minority education (SGM), few consistently integrated it into the curriculum.

Enrolling gender non-comforming patients in iPLEDGE for isotretinoin requires the physician to have cultural competency and knowledge about transgender patients' reproductive potential. A recent JAAD article describes this challenge in clinical practice while operating within the confines of iPLEDGE pertaining to birth sex and gender identity.

Two JAMA Dermatology research letters published this month from the same research group add to growing evidence demonstrating gay and bisexual men, as well as gender nonconforming individuals, being particularly at risk for skin cancer.
