Is anyone else suffering from maskne or is it just me? Acne can be caused by your mask for various reasons, or a combination of all of them: Condensation, moisture, and/or sweat tend to build up underneath your mask. This, mixed with the warmth from your breath and the hot weather we’re experiencing here in Georgia, creates the perfect environment for bacteria growth.... Another reason is friction. Depending on the material your mask is made of, it can cause irritation by rubbing up against your face all day. Friction causes inflammation, which can lead to acne breakouts. My personal favorite way to treat maskne is Botnia’s Fix-Zit Mask mixed with their Soothing Repair Mask. The combination of sulfur, colloidal oats, rose and geranium hydrosols, and arnica work to fight inflammation & bacteria, while also healing and soothing your skin.
