Selden Park has completed its first Basketball Clinic. With over 40 kids in attendance ranging from ages 7-17, the program was a success! The clinic focused on key aspects of the game, like shooting, passing, dribbling, rebounding, and defense. Along with building their skills in the game of basketball, they also developed character building skills such as leadership, teamwork, discipline, communication, and more. As the clinic staff encouraged each child to push through thei...r weaknesses to turn them into strengths, the staff also encouraged participants to apply what they’ve learned in real-life situations to become role models on the court and in their own communities and schools. Each day began with hardcore conditioning, followed by a specific skill. At the end of the clinic, participants were given award certificates, shirts, and goodies to fill their bellies. Although we received a lot of accolades for the work we were doing with the participants, we would like to thank the parents and participants for their dedication to see the program all the way through and being such great supporters in the process. Our biggest thanks goes to the organizations/businesses, such as the Glynn County Tigers, Shoreline Marine, Ducere Construction Services, and the Sumthin’ Serious Biker Club for their donations to make this program a success and a great experience for our kids. The train has been delivered and ready for riders at the Jolly Jamboree on Saturday at Howard Coffin Park. $3 per person will get you in to do all the fun games, train ride, bounce houses and visit with Santa. Plus we have $1 raffle tickets to win a bicycle and lots of free raffles. 10:00 to 1:00, see you there!

Our 8U and 12U both battled and played amazing games at South Regionals. 8U came up just short with a score of 29-28 and 12U fell to Rincon with a score of 36-32. We are so proud of you boys and all your hard work!

Our 8U Football All Stars have defeated Mitchell County 55-6 and our 12U defeated Lee County 56-0. Both teams will play again at 3:00 pm today against Rincon teams. Winners of the next games will win South Regionals and advance to the State Championship game in Carrollton next Saturday. Good luck to both teams!

Our 8U and 12U are currently playing in Tifton at South Regionals. 8U is up 35-6 and 12U is up 40-0 at the half.

The 6:15 pm showing for Santa Cinema tonight is sold out. We still have plenty of openings for the 7:00 and 7:45 showings. You can still come to Santa Cinema at 6:00 and meet with Santa and write a letter and get hot chocolate before you attend one of the later showings.

Our 8U football team defeated Camden 26-6, our 10U defeated Wayne 16-8 and our 12U defeated Camden 44-24. All the Glynn County teams will advance to the championship game this Saturday at the Glynn County Stadium. Game times are 10:00, 12:00 and 2:00.

The 8U All Star Football game is being held at Chris Gilman Stadium in Camden County tonight at 6:00 p.m. The game will be Live Streamed on the Camden PSA Facebook page. Glynn County 10U will play at 7:15 p.m. at North Glynn and the 12U will play at 6:30 p.m. at North Glynn. Admission is $3.00 per adult, students 17 and under are free.

District play for soccer and football will be held this week. 8U and 10U soccer play at 6:00 pm today in Wayne County and 12U will play tomorrow in Wayne County. 8U football will play Thursday in Camden County at 6:00 pm. 10U and 12U football will both play at North Glynn on Thursday at 7:15 (10U) and 6:30 (12U). BASKETBALL REGISTRATION NEWS!! Our Basketball Season will begin registration OCTOBER 15 and run through OCTOBER 31. Due to restrictions and social distancing guidelines, there will be an extremely limited number of spaces available in each age group. Once an age group is full, we will no longer be able to take any registration for it. It is possible for leagues to become completely full before the October 31 deadline. If you are interested in playing basketball this year..., do not delay in signing up. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, we will not be able to play in the school gym on Saint Simons Island. Players from Saint Simons Island can still sign up for basketball, but will have to travel to the mainland for practices and games. Age groups for basketball: 3-4 Co-Ed- $20.00 5-6 Co-Ed, 7-8 Boys, 9-10 boys, 7-10 girls, 11-12 boys, 13-14 boys and 11-14 girls- $48.00 We look forward to seeing you this winter.
