My Prayer For Today. Dear GOD, thank You for awakening us this morning. Remember growing up and our parents would tell us no matter what we did, we should tell ...the truth. Because when we lie to them, they lose trust in us. GOD is the same way, He wants us to admit our erring ways and seek Him for forgiveness. Father please touch us today where we understand that sin can't be reversed or swept under the rug, we must deal with sin, because God sees everything and no sin will go unpunished, but when we ask GOD for forgiveness we are clean from that sin, and our lesson should teach us not to walk down that path again. "GOD will always preserve a faithful remant of His people. No matter how bad the world is, there are always a few who remain loyal to Him"( Isaiah 65:8-9). Father please remind us that sin is unavoidable, but what we do afterwards will determine our suffering from sin. Father we thank You for Your everlasting love and Your guidance that You blessed us with each new day through our daily prayers. In Christ Jesus' name. Amen. See more

Our Daily Help Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us. Romans 8:37... We go to Christ for forgiveness, and then too often look to the law for power to fight our sins. Paul thus rebukes us, O foolish Galatians, who hath bewitched you, that ye should not obey the truth? This only would I learn of you, Received ye the Spirit by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith? are ye so foolish? having begun in the Spirit, are ye now made perfect by the flesh? Take your sins to Christ’s cross, for the old man can only be crucified there: we are crucified with him. The only weapon to fight sin with is the spear which pierced the side of Jesus. To give an illustrationyou want to overcome an angry temper, how do you go to work? It is very possible you have never tried the right way of going to Jesus with it. How did I get salvation? I came to Jesus just as I was, and I trusted him to save me. I must kill my angry temper in the same way? It is the only way in which I can ever kill it. I must go to the cross with it, and say to Jesus, Lord, I trust thee to deliver me from it. This is the only way to give it a death-blow. Are you covetous? Do you feel the world entangle you? You may struggle against this evil so long as you please, but if it be your besetting sin, you will never be delivered from it in any way but by the blood of Jesus. Take it to Christ. Tell him, Lord, I have trusted thee, and thy name is Jesus, for thou dost save thy people from their sins; Lord, this is one of my sins; save me from it! Ordinances are nothing without Christ as a means of mortification. Your prayers, and your repentances, and your tearsthe whole of them put togetherare worth nothing apart from him. None but Jesus can do helpless sinners good; or helpless saints either. You must be conquerors through him who hath loved you, if conquerors at all. Our laurels must grow among his olives in Gethsemane.

Our Daily Help The king’s garden. Nehemiah 3:15... Mention of the king’s garden by Nehemiah brings to mind the paradise which the King of kings prepared for Adam. Sin has utterly ruined that fair abode of all delights, and driven forth the children of men to till the ground, which yields thorns and briers unto them. My soul, remember the fall, for it was thy fall. Weep much because the Lord of love was so shamefully ill-treated by the head of the human race, of which thou art a member, as undeserving as any. Behold how dragons and demons dwell on this fair earth, which once was a garden of delights. See yonder another King’s garden, which the King waters with his bloody sweatGethsemane, whose bitter herbs are sweeter far to renewed souls than even Eden’s luscious fruits. There the mischief of the serpent in the first garden was undone: there the curse was lifted from earth, and borne by the woman’s promised seed. My soul, bethink thee much of the agony and the passion; resort to the garden of the olive-press, and view thy great Redeemer rescuing thee from thy lost estate. This is the garden of gardens indeed, wherein the soul may see the guilt of sin and the power of love, two sights which surpass all others. Is there no other King’s garden? Yes, my heart, thou art, or shouldst be such. How do the flowers flourish? Do any choice fruits appear? Does the King walk within, and rest in the bowers of my spirit? Let me see that the plants are trimmed and watered, and the mischievous foxes hunted out. Come, Lord, and let the heavenly wind blow at thy coming, that the spices of thy garden may flow abroad. Nor must I forget the King’s garden of the church. O Lord, send prosperity unto it. Rebuild her walls, nourish her plants, ripen her fruits, and from the huge wilderness, reclaim the barren waste, and make thereof a King’s garden.

Our Daily Help Mediocre Christianity I, brethren, could not speak unto you as unto spiritual, but as unto carnal. (1 Corinthians 3:1) Read your New Testament ag...ain and you will agree that mediocrity in the Christian life is not the highest that Jesus offers. Certainly God is not honored by our arrested spiritual developmentour permanent halfway spiritual condition. We all know that the Bible tells us that we honor God by going on to full maturity in Christ! Why, then, do we settle for those little pleasures that tickle the saintlets and charm the fancy of the carnal? It is because we once heard a call to take up the cross and instead of following toward the heights, we bargained with the Lord like a street huckster! We felt an urge to be spent for Christ, but instead of going on, we started asking questions. We began to bicker and bargain with God about His standards for spiritual attainment. This is plain truthnot about unbelieving liberalsbut about those who have been born again and who dare to ask, Lord, what will it cost me? See more

Our Daily Help Are We Mired Down? I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot. (Revelation 3:1) God will speak to us if we read and study and obey the ...Word of God! But when He does speak, we should speak back to Him in prayer and devotion. Otherwise, we are among the Christians who are mired down right where we are. Many in our congregations have grown older and yet are not one inch farther up the mountain than on that day when the sun first arose on them in conversion. In fact, some are not even as far advanced along the way with God as they were a few years ago. If these things are true, I can only conclude that there are common Christians, men and women who no longer hear the Lord speaking to them as they should. Can they really think that this halfway Christian life is the best that we can know? In the face of what Christ offers us, how can we settle for so little? It is a tragedy of our time that so many are settling for less than the Lord is willing to give! This help should touch some of us, and prayerfully help us get back on track. Ouch.
