Great Ogeechee Seafood Festival 30.05.2021

For Immediate Release March 4, 2021 Richmond Hill, GA The Great Ogeechee Seafood Festival (GOSF) Committee is happy to announce that the Richmond Hill City Council approved the usage of J.F. Gregory Park for the 22nd Annual Festival October 15-17, 2021. This is the first step of many that must happen in order to make the festival possible. There are still several unknown factors that could ultimately cause cancellation. ... As hosts, The Richmond Hill Bryan County (RHBC) Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors will vote June 1st on the final decision. Many factors are being taken into consideration in the decision such as State and Local guidelines, COVID-19 numbers, and the safety of our volunteers, vendors, and community. We are hopeful that the festival will go on, and are planning on just that, but we must ensure we are within the guidelines set, says Johnson, RHBC Chamber CEO. This is a huge decision as if affects so many in our community at large. For the non-profits and the local craft, food, and business vendors, the impact of this festival is tremendous! It’s essentially been two years of missed opportunity for most, and we are anxiously watching the decline of the virus in great hopes that the festival can take place, says Paige Glazer, RHBC Chamber Chairman. Great Ogeechee Seafood Festival 03.12.2020

Press Release: 2020 Great Ogeechee Seafood Festival Canceled For Immediate Release July 10th, 2020... Richmond Hill, GA The Great Ogeechee Seafood Festival (GOSF) Committee announced today that the 2020 Great Ogeechee Seafood Festival, scheduled for November 6-8, will be canceled. The decision was based on many factors, including budgetary concerns and the health of the Richmond Hill-Bryan County community in light of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Canceling this year’s festival was a difficult decision to make, but the GOSF Committee felt it was not a responsible use of our members’ dues in a time of financial uncertainty nor was it in the best interest of our community’s health, said Kathryn Johnson, CEO of the Richmond Hill-Bryan County Chamber of Commerce. The Great Ogeechee Seafood festival takes months, almost an entire year, to plan and therefore waiting until later this year to make a decision would be detrimental to the Festival, Sponsors, Vendors, Artisans and Community Non-Profits. All vendors and sponsors who paid to participate in the 2020 festival will have their fees refunded. The Great Ogeechee Seafood Festival is slated to return in the Fall of 2021, to continue the wonderful tradition of delicious seafood, community camaraderie, amusement rides, and live entertainment. We look forward to welcoming everyone back in the Fall of 2021 and continuing our mission of supporting local business and non-profits, Johnson adds.
