Grace for Grant 08.06.2021

It took me months and months to unpack Grant's suitcase from the last hospital trip after he passed. Some time after that I mustered up the courage to just open his drawers and at least empty them of the things he didn't wear very much so that Hudson could use them when he reached 4T. Then we renovated our house and Grant's room sat with no one entering for a year and a half. . . we moved back in just in time for life to fall apart again. . . our family rallied and Grant...Continue reading

5 Years . . . Laughter, giggles, dancing, swinging, jumping, chasing with your siblings. Watching Spiderman, Paw Patrol, Minions, Cars, Avengers, requesting th...e big movie case to flip through. Ice cream, Waffle House, Chicken nuggets, sweet tea, and fries (CFA), cheese dip and chips, corn dogs, sweet potatoes fries, coco puffs. "Love you" and even the "No!"s when you didn't want a picture or video taken. Long eye lashes, peach fuzz on your head. Each moment a gift, every moment now just one moment closer to being with you again. Love you and miss you sweet boy. See more

St. Patrick's Day Atlanta Parade 5 years ago. The kids had a great time, Michael and James came late to watch as James had a baseball game. Grant was so tired and after we left the parade we spent the night in the hospital getting blood. We came Saturday to do many boxes and cards - there was such excitement at each package opened. There were things from around the world, from classrooms, to individuals, from get wells to silly jokes, there were things for all the kids an...d we still have them all. Each year I can't wrap my head around the time passed, this year feels more significant, 5 years we are approaching. The kids were all still "little" - now we have teenagers and the baby is now 5 and about to be in kindergarten next year! Grant continues to be part of our everyday, he is everywhere and in everything, and continuously missed. See more

From 8 weeks old in the womb to 20 weeks in the womb to birth to death - you were created and valued from day one, you were our child throughout it all. Our c...ircumstances do not determine a child's worth, one child is no less valuable nor less special nor less important nor less worth the right to LIVE than any other EVER - what age you are, what your nationality, your parents' status, your economic status, your gender, your missing or added chromosomes - NONE of this changes the sanctity of that child's life. Imagine looking a grown child in the eyes and saying to them, you were not worth life because of XYZ? Would that change your perspective? Would burying a child change your perspective? Would any of my children be worth having only on a good day and not a bad one? They are our hope and our future, our reason to be, our reason to pass along our lessons of failing and those on thriving, they are worth being told EVERY day that nothing could have or would change their right to life. True equality is offering each of our unborn, no excuses, the chance to have that beating heart continue to beat. Yes, these are all Grant, I suffered a major complication early in the pregnancy and twice we rushed to the ER fearing we had lost him - a beating heart so sweet. I cherish the extra months I had him all to myself in the womb for others only knew him the days after birth, I was treasured to know him from his true start Today is National Sanctity of Human Life Day: "Every human life is a gift to the world. Whether born or unborn, young or old, healthy or sick, every person is made in the holy image of God. The Almighty Creator gives unique talents, beautiful dreams, and a great purpose to every person. On National Sanctity of Human Life Day, we celebrate the wonder of human existence and renew our resolve to build a culture of life where every person of every age is protected, valued, and cherished." -Proclamation by the President issued Jan. 17, 2021 for today Jan 22, 2021 This isn't political debate, this is me honoring my own five children and declaring their value and worth. And saying YOU are a valuable, cherished child of God worthy of life.

Crazy hat day at preschool, Hudson's choice was an understated hamburger hat. Just wanted to say thank you to everyone that sent hats when Grant was sick, we still use them and they still bring us smiles.
