Why Jiu Jitsu? Gracie Jiu-Jitsu is considered by many, the most complete self-defense system in the world. GJJ offers the tools to defend oneself in a real world attack because it effectively teaches self-defense while standing, clinched or on the ground, regardless of size, age or strength. GJJ is a modern combat system developed from traditional Jiu-Jitsu by Grand Master Helio Gracie. At 135 lbs., Helio discovered that he could use body mechanics and leverage rather than speed and strength to neutralize or even dominate any opponent. Using this system, Helio’s son Royce became the first UFC Champion and changed NHB (No Holds Barred) fighting forever.

Jiu jitsu teaches men that they're strength is not worth what they thought. It teaches women that their strength is worth more than they thought.

Jiu Jitsu teaches men that their strength doesn't mean as much as they thought it did. Jiu Jitsu teaches women that they are stronger than they thought.

Tips for keeping your gi fresh and white: - Wash your Gi after every. single. class - Make sure your Gi is nice and dry before you train in it again - Try to wait until your Gi has dried before washing it again... - To keep your Gi white and fresh - don't use bleach, use a cup of white vinegar in with your wash as needed (it won't smell like vinegar - vinegar neutralizes odors and keeps whites whiter). Some hydrogen peroxide in your wash can do this trick too. Leave it soaking overnight if you have done the dreaded 'forgot my sweaty gi crumpled in my gym bag.' - To prevent that dreaded Gi shrinking - wash in cold water and always hang dry. Some actually buy their Gi's a size up, and intentionally shrink it so they never have to worry For more GI care tips, check out this article https://jiujitsu.com/gi-care-guide/

Lady's class on Wednesday's 6:30-7:30! Judith Wellen Breitkopf our in house Pink Belt (from Gracie University...and one of only a handful in the region with this rank) is your instructor (Judith is also closing in on her Brown Belt!). This class is crucial for any woman serious about self defense. This class covers woman specific attacks with realistic, proven defenses. It is a must for today's woman. In addition, if enrolled in the program, you can bring a dedicated partner free for a month. As in all our classes, you have the option to wear a mask, have a dedicated partner and work in a socially distanced space. If you have been considering it, now is the time!
