It’s time for our first Women Owned Wednesday in celebration of national Women Owned Business Month. This week, meet Cynthia Smith, the owner of Genuine Georgia.... Cynthia grew up in Greene County on a large sheep, cattle, and horse farm called Wrayswood. She learned work ethic and business from watching her father. He taught her to work hard; plan, plan, plan; dream bigger than others; buy only what you need, not want you just want; and always work together with others in the community, helping out and supporting them any way possible. Cynthia believes through everything, family is first, business is second. If you can mesh the two together, even better! Before becoming a business owner, Cynthia served as a Greene County Commissioner and Greensboro’s Better Hometown Manager. She took every training possible and listened intently as the people around her shared their business experiences. She watched carefully and learned what seemed to work and why some things failed. Cynthia bought Genuine Georgia in 2005, and she has been hard at work owning it and growing it ever since. Cynthia and her team at Genuine Georgia plan daily, watch our money like a hawk, and are always looking for new ideas and artists. Cynthia says, Genuine Georgia is an awesome, exciting and challenging business to be in, but it's located in the most wonderful hometown any business owner could want to be.
