Our Learning Specialists work with a lot of GT faculty and the #1 piece of advice they recommend we relate to students is just thisGo to Office Hours. Some quick tips to make them less anxiety-inducing: 1) Go early on without an agenda. That makes it easier to go later when the class gets tougher. Just introduce yourself and explain that you wanted to make sure you could find their office for later. 2) Make a list of topics to discuss: it will help you be more prepared and s...end a message to faculty that you are taking the time seriously. 3) Don’t say I’m lost or I don’t know anything. It’s not true: you do know something and when you say things like this, the burden is then on faculty to do the work.
