Zipline International Inc. got involved with the #FSGP2019 awards ceremony, too! The Zipline "Scrappiness" award went to Team #49 Georgia Tech Solar Racing. Des...pite challenges getting through scrutineering and struggles on the track, including the turn 1 hill, the team still managed to log 45 official laps for 9th place in the single-occupant vehicle class. This summer, Georgia Tech Solar Racing made team history. With our first new car in 6 years, we passed scrutineering, finished top 10 in the Formula Sun Grand Prix, and rayced the American Solar Challenge for the first time. From Nebraska to Oregon, ASC took us 1700 miles over unfamiliar terrain to some truly unique places. We spent long days and longer nights debugging systems, both in the shop and on the road. We met wonderful people and visited some of the country's best ...National Parks. There were struggles and sleepless nights. But we are walking away with a wealth of knowledge, practical experience, and an unbelievable drive to do even better next year. We would like to extend our most heartfelt thanks to all of our supporters. Thank you to the friends, family, and alumni who have believed in our journey from the very beginning. From the moment Odyssey started materializing in our workspace to the day the team set foot in Bend, you were there. Thank you to our incredible sponsors - without your help, there wouldn't be a car to celebrate. As always, thank you to our fellow solar racing teams for their sportsmanship and advice. And last but not least, thank you to all Georgia Tech Solar Racing members, old and new, for giving your time to this car and to this team. The adventures in solar racing do not end here. Please make sure to continue following us as we start in our third generation solar car, SR-3!

Georgia Tech Solar Racing 12.11.2019

We've made it to Bend, Oregon! We are proud to have qualified and made it to the end of our very first American Solar Challenge.

The team is making its way through Wyoming to Idaho! SR-2 has made it through two stages of the race. It also fits pretty well in a parking space. Our first time competing in the American Solar Challenge has not been easy, but we are learning the ropes. By the end of this journey, SR-2 and the race team will come home with a wealth of experience.

Georgia Tech Solar Racing 06.09.2019

Congratulations to all teams on getting through the first two stages of #ASC2018! Looking forward to the next 3 stages on the way to the finish line in Bend, Oregon.

Georgia Tech Solar Racing 04.09.2019

Thank you to the FSGP 2018 team for their hard work on SR-2 Odyssey this past week! We were able to pass all of static and dynamic scrutineering with a new car at its very first race, a new record for our team.

Georgia Tech Solar Racing 24.08.2019

Our car is seeing some beautiful views as we travel along the Oregon Trail for ASC! We have made it to Gering, NE and will be in Wyoming by tomorrow evening.

Georgia Tech Solar Racing 22.08.2019

Due to some never-before-seen electrical issues that did not occur during our 314 miles of driving at FSGP, we have trailered to the next location on the ASC route to continue the journey. We will be working on debugging these problems today and hope to make more progress tomorrow.

Georgia Tech Solar Racing 13.08.2019

We are incredibly excited to participate alongside these teams! Make sure to look out for our progress.

Georgia Tech Solar Racing 05.08.2019

Today, SR-2 Odyssey completed over 143 laps at the Formula Sun Grand Prix and has officially qualified for the American Solar Challenge. Starting on Saturday, Odyssey will embark from Omaha, NE on a 1700+ mile road race to Bend, OR following the Oregon Trail on solar power. It has been an exciting and intense week qualifying our new car, and the following days will mark history for our team's first time competing in ASC. We'd like to give a shoutout to our friends, family, sp...onsors, and advisors - without you, none of this would have been possible. Please consider supporting us as we go into ASC! https://www.gofundme.com/GTSR-2018-American-Solar-Challenge/ Photo Credits to Missouri S&T

As of 12:00PM local time, we have completed 21 laps.

Georgia Tech Solar Racing 25.06.2019

Today we start our qualification attempt for the American Solar Challenge. The goal will be to travel 495 km in two days in order to qualify for the cross country race across the Oregon Trail. Yesterday we spent a lot of time fine tuning the car and giving each of our drivers some experience on the track to raise our odds of success. We're currently 6 laps into the day hoping to end above the halfway point with plenty of margin in our pack. Forecasts look beautiful for the remainder of today and tomorrow.
