Last year we established the Governor Nathan Deal Second Chance Award. 2021 Award nominations are now open for returning citizens who have demonstrated extraordinary accomplishments in the area of Reentry for Gwinnett County. The nominee can either be justice impacted or contributing to the success of those who are. This person must be either residing in Gwinnett ...County or have a service that returning citizens from Gwinnett County are benefiting from. A major #television production company is now casting a new documentary series that showcases stories of reentry with a focus on novel approaches to housing for returning citizens. We are hoping to speak to people who have housing plans for their release already set in place - specifically those who are planning to live with someone they are not directly related to or romantically involved with. It can be someone you met while incarcerated, someone you met through a friend or... relative, a pen pal, or even someone you met through a reentry program. Specifically, we are interested in speaking with: Homeowners who are welcoming someone home from #incarceration and are not related to the returning citizen. Inmates who will be released between January 2021 - March 2021 who have housing plans in place for when they are released.
