Easter bonnet parade! Work it, ladies! Strike a pose! Walk the cat walk! The ladies paraded around the dining room after lunch to show off their creations! The winner is Sylvia Woodall. We had such a fun time today! Thank you to all those who participated!
And the winner is ... Sylvia Woodall! Sylvia received the most votes for our Easter bonnet contest! Participants decorated various styled hats and displayed them for everyone to vote on. Sylvia won an Easter basket full of Easter candy, a tea towel and a hand painted egg decoration. There was a tie for second place between Patricia Rogers and Vivian Nance. The senior center would like to extend gratitude to all the people who donated craft supplies and hats for this project. We have some very talented individuals in this group!
Happy Easter! What a fun-filled day at the senior center. The day started with an egg hunt! Participants made a mad dash to find as many eggs as the they could! Prizes were given to the top two people finding the most eggs: Vivian Nance (pictured left) found 55 eggs and Virginia Ross (pictured right) found 51. Patricia Rogers (center) found the egg containing a small silver cross and won the grand prize. We want to say a special thank you to all those who helped fill the eggs; to Shirley Umberhandt for providing the majority of the prizes and candy-filled eggs; and to Vivian Nance who created the delicious cupcakes that looked like little baskets! The clients look forward to this event each year and it’s always lots of fun!
The senior center is ready for the holidays with a custom made ornament!
Blessed to have Ann Green singing Christmas carols for the seniors today!

We were truly blessed to have a traditional Thanksgiving meal provided and served to the membership on Thursday by Grant-Reeves VFW Post 7720 of Cornelia. Members of the senior center’s Red Birds club provided desserts. Kathy Holcomb, director, thanked the clients for adhering to the safety precautions set forth to reopen the center in July therefore helping keep others safe during this pandemic. It has allowed the center to be open to serve hot meals & provide other much-needed services for the elderly of our community. Steve York lead prayer before the senior center staff and members of the VFW began serving the meal. Thank you once again to the local VFW post and Country Crossroads Restaurant for providing such a delicious meal.
