Often I hear how clean or concise my braiding/parting is and as much as I’d like to attribute it to my many years of practicing my craft, I have to also give pr...ops to prepping, tools and products. It truly helps to preplan or map out what you’re doing and where you’re going when you’re performing a braided style because not all heads and head shapes are created equal - - Here’s a few tips that I’ve used when creating a pristine braided look: 1. A Clean Foundation Hair that has been properly cleansed/conditioned/cared for will always give a better finished look than unclean hair, in my experience and opinion. 2. Where are you starting, sis? Ask where would they (or yourself) like for their hair to fall. Some like middle parts, side parts (left/right) or no part at all! This is extremely important because you need a starting point to help you navigate through the hair. 3. What product(s) and tools are you using? Everyone has their own preference when it comes to this but the right products/tools will really make a difference in the overall look of your braids/partings. Parting combs and clips are highly recommended for precision! Also, consider using products that will not dry out the hair or create a dusty look as some products can create a film-like look on the braids 4. Bonus: Tension matters!
