275lb rack pull Honesty time: I almost cropped that last rep out because it wasn’t pretty and my face is even worse but you know what, I’m so super stoked that I pulled that weight. Not one time, not two times, but FOUR TIMES If you know me, you know how strongly I feel about building strength. It’s my passion through and throughout. Box squats to change it up! If you’re not adding box squats into your routine, here’s your sign to start now! Box squats help recruit more work from the glutes and hamstrings and take away less work from the quads. They can also be super beneficial if you are nursing a knee back to help and they take some pressure off of them. Another reason to video yourself, is to check your form. Watch in the 3rd squat as my right hip tries to take the load first, several reasons: ... I had the wrong shoes on I was on my 4th set of 15 of these And my right side is predominately my stronger side. Look at the difference in being posed and standing straight, it’s HUGE. What exactly are we showcasing when we only share posed pictures and not pictures of how we look standing natural? *FULL TRANSPARENCY* I recently took 6 weeks off from heavy lifting to let my body heal and to get my mind right. I lost strength, a good bit of it. What used to be able to push at least 4 reps at 205lbs, I dropped it at the second rep. Ladies, if the men ask you if you need a spot, kindly decline and set your rack up to be able to properly drop the weight, it’s no biggie ... Working on that overhead strength. Finishing upper body work with a couple of sets of 95lb OH presses. As unfortunate as this is that I stress this; ladies, PLEASE train with functionality. If someone were to come up to you or your children, could you defend yourself or hold them off until help came? Being able to push weight away from your body is so functional for everyday use and potential safety. Try incorporating more presses (leg press, bench press, overhead press et...c.) into your routine.
