We would like to share with you the informational flyer for Faces of Innocence, a fantastic photography exhibition that we have the good fortune to display on our walls here at Hancock Day School. During our December break, we had 178 photographs (30 x 40-inch) installed in all three buildings. Our decision to make these iconic photographs a part of our learning environment is rooted in our commitment to the HDS Mission Statement, specifically through the lens of instilling v...alues, developing knowledge of the world and self, character development, and the ability to make positive contributions to our ever-changing world. This installation will be a great way for us to initiate important conversations with students and enrich classroom learning. We are so lucky to have this special opportunity to use these images to develop greater empathy and sympathy in our community, thereby moving all of us to become more attuned to our similarities and less focused on our differences. Being introduced to these images will certainly help to open our students’ eyes, minds, and hearts to the diverse and dynamic world beyond their daily experience. It is our belief that the photographs and associated learning activities will provide a gateway for student thought that is immediately applicable to relationships on campus which can be easily applied outside of our community as we observe and interact in the greater world. Please take a few minutes to look at this flyer and watch this short video for an introduction to the Faces of Innocence exhibition. Jack Cargile Associate Head of Middle School

Due to Covid-19 the HDS Student Government was unable to have some of their regularly scheduled events; therefore, the students decided that they wanted to pick some of their favorite charities to which they would donate their extra funds. First on the list was Toys for Tots! We donated over $515.00 of toys to this organization! Happy Holidays!

Today we concluded our toy drive for patients of the Pediatric Rehabilitation Unit at Memorial Health University Medical Center. Students helped to load our truck full of donations, and we are excited to share the toys we collected with the hospital. We also delivered the ornaments and tree skirt that our students created. We are so grateful for the opportunity to spread holiday cheer and teach our students about the joy of giving to others

As we approach the winter holidays, Hancock Day School is honored to continue the tradition of decorating the tree for the Pediatric Rehabilitation Unit at Memorial Health University Medical Center and providing gifts for the children there. This is a great way to discuss and practice generosity with your student, which happens to be our virtue of the month. Students in kindergarten through fourth grade will be making ornaments for the tree, and students in fifth grade will... be creating the tree skirt. We will also be accepting gifts outside of the Front and Middle School Offices until next Thursday, December 10th. Memorial Hospital provided us with a list of suggested gifts: Infant play sets/ shape sorters/ blocks/ring stackers/ spinners Musical light up toys, activity centers, fisher-price figures/sets Baby teethers and rattles Books for infants and toddlers Wooden puzzles (from infant to early elementary ages) Play-doh / Play-doh sets / fun craft sets Mega/Lego Blocks for toddlers Lego Sets for school aged kids Action figures Trains/trucks/cars/hot wheels Sport balls basketballs, playground balls, footballs and other outside fun activities Games- board games or card games $10 gift cards for our older kids- Target, Apple iTunes, etc. *Please NO stuffed animals, Barbie Dolls/baby dolls, coloring books-crayons, or clothing items *Please do NOT wrap the gifts

Hello Eagle Family! It’s Championship Day! I am excited to announce that we have two volleyball teams that will be representing the green and gold tonight in the Savannah Parochial Athletics Championships. Our seventh grade girls will be looking to complete the season sweep of Savanah Christian and bring home their second trophy in two years. The game will begin at 5:00 PM at Savannah Country Day.... Our sixth grade green team will be looking for revenge, as they take on the Cavaliers of Calvary Day to see who hoists the championship trophy. This game will begin at 6:00 PM at Calvary Day School. Please make plans to come out and support these girls as they continue to make the Eagle family proud! Both sites require face coverings, social distancing and temperature checks to enter the facility, but are not limiting attendance. Go Eagles! Let’s Fly! Jason A. Helton Director of Athletics
