The egg tart is a kind of custard tart found in Dim Sum cuisine deriving from the English custard tart and Portuguese pastel de nata. The dish consists of an outer pastry crust filled with egg custard. It is golden, with a flaky exterior, and a warm, sweet, custardy interior. it is perfection in a dessert.

Cha siu bao is a barbecue-pork-filled bun. The buns are filled with barbecue-flavored cha siu pork. They are served as a type of dim sum during yum cha and are sometimes sold in Chinese bakeries. Cha siu refers to the pork filling; the word bao means "bun".

Turnip cake is commonly served in Cantonese yum cha, usually cut into rectangular slices and sometimes pan-fried before serving. Each pan-fried cake has a thin crunchy layer on the outside from frying, and is soft on the inside. The non-fried version is soft all over. It is one of the standard dishes found in the dim sum cuisine of Hong Kong. It is also commonly eaten during Lunar New Year. In Taiwan, turnip cake is also commonly eaten as part of a breakfast in Chinese speaking areas.

These shrimp dumplings are transparent and smooth. This dish is said to be the one that the skill of a dim sum chef is judged on. Traditionally, shrimp dumplings should have at least seven and preferably ten or more pleats imprinted on its wrapper. The skin must be thin and translucent. The shrimp must be cooked well, but not overcooked. The amount of meat should be generous, yet not so much that it cannot be eaten in one bite.

A rice noodle roll is a Hong Kong dish. It is a thin crépe roll made from a wide strip of shahe fen, filled with shrimp, beef, vegetables, or fried bread.

Sesame Ball is a type of fried dough pastry made from glutinous rice flour. The pastry is coated with sesame seeds on the outside and is crisp and chewy. Inside the pastry is a large hollow, caused by the expansion of the dough. A good sesame ball should deliver a kung fu punch of crispy, roasty, chewy and sweet.
