Feature Friday! Check out this cool 1930s Marx Mammoth Zeppelin toy. Produced by Louis Marx and Co. in New York City, it is made of pressed tin with 3 wheels and 4 propellers. The toy is also marked with the original Marx Toy Co. logo. Founded in 1919 by David and Louis Marx, the company originally distributed toys made overseas. In 1921 Louis Marx and Co. started manufacturing their own mechanical toys including the Mammoth Zeppelin. During WWII, the they became a supplie...r the to U.S. military. The company was sold in 1972 and dissolved in 1982. Some of their most iconic toys include the Big Wheel tricycle and Rock’em Sock’em Robots. The holidays are fast approaching! Welcome back! Take a look at this chemically altered taffeta. This is a common occurrence when fabric sits in direct sunlight. Due to sun exposure, this taffeta curtain has been chemically altered. The thick baby blue fabric has become yellow and brittle. This curtain can no longer hang from a window, but can be repurposed as an educational tool.
