As hurricane Michael makes landfall and begins to impact people across several southern states, our Disaster Relief team is preparing to deploy to South Georgia. Our team will focus on debris cleanup from the storms while showing Christ’s love to those who have been affected. Join us in praying for everyone in the path of hurricane Michael, as well as our team! Hi Team, Several HHDR members were able to help 8 property owners like Mr. Julius Davenport in Haralson County last week with cutting and removing trees and debris as a result of tornado damage in West Georgia. Our spring meeting (April 14th at 9 am) and training site near Cleveland, GA (directions below) will be an opportunity for us to meet and cover skid-steer operator training, chainsaw usage, review our safety procedures and PPE, site assessment/size-up and caring for vi...ctims following a disaster. It is also a great opportunity to invite anyone interested in helping with this ministry. The directions we have been provided to the training site are... "There is not a street number assigned to the property. After you turn right onto Kellum Valley Road, it is about a mile on the right near the "ruins at Kellum Valley Farm". No way can we miss it with those big trees down. The owner will be there before 9am in a black Tahoe." We think the approximate address of 1051 Kellum Valley Road will work for GPS use if needed. Even if you are not interested in having 'seat time' in the skid-steer or operating a chainsaw, there will be a topic/activity which everyone can benefit and be involved with. It is important for everyone to have an increased level of awareness about the dynamics happening around a disaster site and recovery operations if you have participated many times or if this is your first meeting with our team. Please let us know if you have any questions, need better directions or would like to carpool to the site. Thanks again for your willingness to serve... Richi, Ric, and Shelley. The picture below is a tree that fell and hit the house of a 94 year old WWI veteran. He's a great example of why we do what we do.
