Found this index card tucked away in a book as we were going through a large donation of family files, binders and books today from the Louise Pugh Birchfield collection that we recently received and I just felt like I needed to post it.

Although the neighborhood as it was has changed, the memories live on. Plaque at new RaceTrac commemorates the families that lived in this house for over 100 years.

I believe this had to be the highlight of our workday today at the Stoney Point Black Baptist Cemetery. The children noticed that today, February 29th was Georgia Nailer's birthday. She was a leap year baby. They insisted on singing Happy Birthday to her before we left. She was born Feb 29, 1868 and died Oct 2, 1899. 31 years old at death. 101 years later children are standing at the foot of her grave singing Happy Birthday. These kids were great helpers today.
Some great progress today with an amazing group of volunteers at our Stoney Point Cemetery restoration project. Special thanks to the folks from Browns Bridge Church for their hard work. Really starting to see major changes here. We’ve also started on the genealogy for those interred there.
2 men, Jim Harris and Jimmy McConnell, 2 blowers and a chainsaw worked today blowing and clearing leaves from Stoney Point Black Baptist Cemetery and trimmed limbs from a downed cedar tree. Underneath the leaves we found many fieldstone headstones and some marble markers with names or initials on them. It was a good day.
