Historic Riverside Cemetery & Conservancy has been closely following the news surrounding COVID-19 and its related public health concerns. By now, you have likely heard news of school and business closings as well the canceling of social and community events to prevent further spread of the virus. After careful consultation with our Board Members and our local health officials regarding the health and safety of our ticketholders, actors, volunteers, employees, and longtime p...artners, Historic Riverside Cemetery & Conservancy will be joining our community, state and national partners in working together to limit and eradicate the COVID-19 pandemic by canceling this year's Spirits in October event that is scheduled for October 15th-October 25th 2020 in Macon. Following increased and overwhelming concerns about the COVID-19 virus, we felt this was the best way to proceed during such an unprecedented global situation. We are very disappointed that we are unable to hold this event for our supporters, but we know it’s the right decision based on the data and information that we have today. Historic Riverside Cemetery & Conservancy anticipates the rescheduling of Spirits in October for a later date, to be announced.

History has run its course, now its your turn! Mark your calendars to experience 2020's most spine-chilling, bare bones race for serious runners through an awe-inspiring route that highlights the Ocmulgee River and Historic Riverside Cemetery. Race details to be released January 31st.

We are seeking fun, vibrant and enthusiastic actors to join us for Spirits in October! Do you love theater? Would you like to be part of an event that provides ...interactive, engaging and interesting stories of Macon’s past to hundreds of local guests? Requirements: Be a fun, enthusiastic, highly energetic and self-sufficient individual. Be creative and have the ability to perform outdoors to large groups. Be open-minded and have an interest in learning about Macon’s history. Enjoy working as part of a team. The escort of handmade, balsam wreaths will be arriving at Historic Riverside Cemetery and Conservancy tomorrow, Wednesday afternoon, December 12th. The escorted convoy will include tractor trailers carrying sponsored wreaths and for the 6th consecutive year, cemetery staff, volunteers, friends and family will spend the day placing wreaths at the foot of veterans’ graves.
