A Post Election Reminder from Pastor John: I don’t have to tell you the atmosphere in our nation right now is divisive, you already know that. I don’t have to provide evidence, it’s all around. What I do need to tell you that as Christians rather than contributing to the divide, we are called to be the ones who work to bridge the divide, bring people to the table, and work to bring healing to our world. We are the ones who have to see the dignity, worth, image of God in every...one. We are the ones who are called into relationship with others. Others who look, vote, believe, think, and act differently than we do. This does not mean we must compromise our own beliefs and convictions but it does mean a willingness to treat others with worth and act with love. We are the ones who are to seek to heal and transform not to divide and destroy. We are the ones who are called to live from a position of humility rather than power, from community rather than tribalism. We are the ones who should always stand up and against anything that seeks to dehumanize or vilify others. We are the ones who should always rise above the demeaning, vile, discourse that rules our world today. We are to be the ones who say, there’s room at the table. Let us, Democrat, Republican, Liberal, Conservative, all gather ‘round it, for we are all children of God. This requires of us the greatest commandment, love. So let us do that. Let us love one another. See more
