Last November we posted about one of our Fire Department Families that was in need of prayers. Today I am asking you again to please help us lift this family up. Trevor and his family have been fighting hard and the last week has been harder than most. They are still fighting and could really use some extra prayers! On this day... 19 years ago 246 people went to sleep in preparation for their morning flights. 2,606 people went to sleep in preparation for work in the morning. 343 firefighters went to sleep in preparation for their morning shift. 60 police officers went to sleep in preparation for morning patrol. 8 paramedics went to sleep in preparation for the morning shift. None of them saw past 10:00am Sept 11, 2001. In one single moment life may never be the same. The date has finally arrived. Please join us for the Grand Opening of the new James W. Williams Jr, Fire & Emergency Management Complex. This complex has been a year in the making and will house our new Fire Station 5, Houston Healthcare EMS, and a new Administration Building for Fire Department HQ and EMA. This morning crews from Houston County Fire Department, Warner Robins Fire Department, Centerville Fire Department, and City of Perry Fire & Emergency Services had the honor of showing support for Chief Lee Kirkland (Milan Vol. Fire Dept.). Chief Kirkland was recently diagnosed with cancer and received his first treatment this morning at the Middle GA Cancer Center. Apparatus lined the entrance to the Cancer Center and personnel greeted Chief upon his arrival with words of encouragement and support. The Fire Service is truly a family. Please join us in keeping Chief Kirkland, his family, and Milan Fire Dept in your thoughts and prayers.

Congratulations to our friends at Centerville Fire Department. We can’t wait to see the new station!

Its that time of year again! Representatives from FIRST (Fire Rescue Support Team) will be out in neighborhoods collecting donations to assist with the purchasing of much needed equipment and gear. ALL representatives will be wearing face masks and practicing CDC recommended guidelines during all interactions. FIRST is an outstanding non profit that comes in each year to assist us in reaching out to our citizens. They will have identification on them as well as some department information to share with you. As always if you are concerned and need to verify their identity please do not hesitate to call our office at 478-542-2040 anytime. Thank you in advance!

This past Monday afternoon our crews were out in a local neighborhood and found this amazing young lady selling lemonade. The next day her father sent us this. "Big shout to the 3 trucks Who heard about my daughter Abbie selling lemonade as well as giving it away with messages of encouragement on the cups. It was a Monday evening and these guys made these kids day as well as doing what all Americans should be doing right now and that’s supporting each other. Houston County FD keep doing what you’re doing." To say the least, the feeling was mutual for our crews. This young lady brightened their day and everyone left feeling truly blessed! Thank you Abbie!
