A few weeks ago we showed you a rendering of the First Floor lobby as part of the Imperial Theatre’s Master Plan and Feasibility Study produced by Studio 3 Designs. In that rendering you noticed a ramp for ADA access, a new waiting area, and a spacious bar/concessions area! This photo gives a closer look at the bar/concessions counter and the waiting area next to it. Very nice!
A couple weeks ago we gave you a sneak peek of the concept for the newly renovated Western Union Room as part of the Imperial Theatre’s Master Plan and Feasibility Study produced by the architectural firm Studio 3 Designs. We told you that this space could be accessed via elevator, would hold dressing room space, had an additional bar/concession area, and would have a meeting/event/conference space available for rent! What we have yet to tell you is that this space will also house our new administrative offices as well! This photo shows the spacious new bar/concessions area and the doors to the administrative offices. We can’t wait to get this project underway!
We unveiled to all of you a couple weeks ago a rendering of the new lobby and concessions space on the first floor as part of Imperial Theatre’s Master Plan and Feasibility Study produced by the architectural firm Studio 3 Designs. This photo is the same space but the view is looking out from the house doorway. As you can see the walls dividing the lobby and concessions area have been removed and there is a slight rake of the lobby floor to meet the concessions floor allowing for ADA access to this area. Opposite the concessions space will be our renovated restrooms. Pretty neat!
Many of you may or may not know that there is space on the second floor above the main lobby and concession space. This is affectionately called the Western Union Room and has been used as overflow dressing room space for various productions. As part of the Imperial Theatre’s Master Plan and Feasibility Study produced by the architectural firm Studio 3 Designs, this space, which would be accessible by elevator, will be completely redesigned to maintain the dressing room space, and add an additional concession area, along with a meeting/event/conference room available for rent! This image is a rendering of what the space would look like.
Many of you have commented on whether there are any plans to renovate the restrooms on the first floor. We are very pleased to report that the Imperial Theatre’s Master Plan and Feasibility Study produced by Studio 3 Designs includes plans to replace the current restrooms with expanded, ADA compliant restrooms!! This portion of the renovation is long overdue and will be much appreciated. This rendering provides an idea of what the update would look like.
We are finally putting together more plans for a future renovation of the Imperial Theatre! We have been working with the architectural firm Studio 3 Designs to create renderings of the updated lobby. Here is a mock-up of what we envision the concessions area will look like!
We have just learned that Isabel Lecuona, a longtime and faithful Volunteer at the Imperial Theatre, as well as the CSRA Humane Society has passed away. Isabel was retired pharmacist who immigrated to the US from Cuba, landing in Augusta by way of NYC. During a 2013 "Ed Turner & Number 9" concert presented by the Junior League of Augusta, at the band's request, we honored Isabel with a plaque dedicating one of our dressing rooms to her son Juan, who had passed away that year. Here's a photo of Isabel with Roger Davis with Number 9 and the plaque which adorns the dressing room wall. Rest in peace sweet Isabel.
We are reaching the end of our journey with the 1st and 2nd Balcony seating refurbishment!!! Both the seat pans and seat backs have been installed along with the reupholstered seat cushions. The repainted walls and flooring now match the seat backs and pans. Everything is really starting to come together and it looks beautiful! But there is still some work to do! If you wish to support the Seating Refurbishment Campaign please click here: www.imperialtheatre.com/seat-refurbishment/ If you wish to make a general donation toward the restoration of the Imperial Theatre, please click here: www.imperialtheatre.com/contributions/ We can’t wait for the opportunity to show it to you!
The Imperial Theatre has acquired additional seat backs and seat pans to be installed in the 1st and 2nd Balcony! Our crew have spent the last week repainting them to match the rest of the new seats. They sure do look nice! We could not make this possible without your support. Thank you to all that have donated toward the effort so far! A wonderful tribute to Richard Justice during an MSNBC segment last night. A Life Well Lived.

Richard Justice was a welcome presence at the Imperial Theatre be it the front or the back of the house. He will be missed.
The seating project is progressing. Newly re-upholstered seat backs and cushions have begun to arrive. The dividing wall between the 1st and 2nd Balcony sections was painted over the weekend. Installation begins tomorrow! If you wish to continue your support of the Seating Refurbishment Campaign, please click on the Donate button below.
