The Independent Team was competing everywhere yesterday. We had 5 guys at a Muay Thai tournament in Villa Rica and another 5 competing in the Charleston IBJJF tournament along with the rest of the Roberto Traven Team. Congratulations to everyone win, lose or draw... we’re always proud of our team.

Yesterday was an exciting day for the Independent Team! With both the Newbreed Grappling Tournament and NFC Fight Night! We took 2nd Place overall as a Team at the Newbreed tournament with a lot of great matches and 2 Champions! NFC was a rough one for the Team last night but Douglas Usher did win his main event fight by first round TKO... Trace Harper lost by Doctor’s stoppage as he suffered a broken collarbone from a take down in the first round. Reese Wilson lost by submission and Khalil Sims by UD. As always we’re proud of everyone who went out there and put it on the line.

???? WEEKLY CHALLENGE TIME! ???? ???? Did you know your body starts the digestion process before you even take a bite? ??Its true! Just the thought of eating triggers salivation. ... ?? But the real magic begins when you CHEW YOUR FOOD. Chewing breaks down food so your gastric juices can more easily digest it which means your body can use more of its micronutrients (vitamins, minerals, etc.). ?? This week your challenge is to SLOW DOWN and chew your food a little bit more than you usually do! ? When you dont chew your food well enough, it can put an extra load on the rest of your digestive system. As you know, your gut plays a huge role in the health of your entire body, and can even play a role in your mood. ???? Lets show our it a little love and take some time to ENJOY and TASTE our food. The old-school rule of thumb was that we should chew each mouthful of food 32 times but that might be a stretch! How about shooting for 15-20 chews instead?! Think you can do it?! I think you can. There are so many benefits: ?? Youll feel less stress. ?? Youll actually eat less because your body will have time to signal your brain that youre full. ??
