Welcome to the Incoming Fall '20 ILS Class...we are excited you are beginning your journey to becoming an independent scientist with us at UGA!
Good Advice for our incoming ILS cohort this week!!! Ph.D. trainee Emma Troth's advice to new graduate students: "Never be afraid to reach out for help, wherever you need it!"
ILS is hosting an Invitation to be Heard call via Zoom on Thursday, June 18, 2020, at 1 p.m. EST. There is no set agenda for this meeting but there is a clear goal: Primarily, we wish to hear from you and learn from you regarding graduate students’ perspectives on inequalities facing minority communities and how the Integrated Life Sciences program and the Graduate School at UGA can help and do better. The faculty and administration are calling this meeting not to talk, but to listen, and all life science graduate students are invited to attend. If you did not receive a link to the Zoom room via email, please email [email protected] and it will be sent to you for your participation.
The Integrated Life Sciences program at the University of Georgia strongly agrees with and proudly supports the tenets recently expressed by Vice-Provost Dr. Michelle Cook, Graduate School Dean Dr. Ron Walcott, and UGA President Morehead regarding race, justice, and equality. Our statements are available on our Program Statements page: https://ils.uga.edu/student-life/program-statements/

As "one of only a handful of labs in the world focusing on the thymus," Dr. Manley and her team work with a goal of determining "how T cells develop and what happens to make their numbers decline."
