Closing a homeless encampment is only an effective strategy if there are housing solutions available. Georgia Health News has a nice summary of the work done by Intown and many others around the state with Georgians with who struggle with behavioral health and developmental disabilities. Gaps remain, but we're here to do our part to house everyone experiencing homelessness.

As we move in to cold nights, the ICM team is making sure that our clients experiencing homelessness have what they need to stay warm and dry. Our amazon wishlist (https://a.co/7gTGaqs) is updated to include sleeping bags, ponchos, and coffee. We also have many partner communities who will hold coat drives for us this winter. Celebrate with us! We now have the capacity to transport wheelchair-bound clients! Access to transportation is a barrier for all our clients, but wheelchair users and those who can’t physically climb in to a vehicle are particularly impacted by access to transportation. This is a game changer for ICM, and for homeless services throughout the city!!

Collaboration is key when you’re providing services to people experiencing homelessness. Hope thru Soap and ICM have been working out how to creatively partner during the pandemic, and this weekend HTS was able to safely provide showers for the first time since March. We had 8 pantry guests use the showers this weekend, and we know that as word spreads that number will rise!
